Getting married in Vegas-

Yes alot of wedding chapels have assembly line ceremonies. However since mine was on a ship there were only two time slots per day avaliable. And luckily our day was avaliable and we choose the second time spot. It was not an assembly line more like a nice unrushed ceremony.

Hey it's your wedding day after all. Whatever whereever you choose. But i think the groom should have a say in things all things including ceremony considered...i know CM helped me in deciding where ours was to be. Other than that he let me pick everything else.

Hahaha, we rented a little outdoor area near the Mandala Bay's giant wave pool that was basically just a backstage holding zone for bands that we going on to their stage over the pool.

With greenery and such, we transformed it into such a beautiful and lovely space, the Mandalay Bay has been using it as a wedding location ever since!

No wedding factory feeling!

Online "church" ordinations may not fly in Orange County. But any citizen can become a deputy marriage commissioner for a day. There's a tiny fee and zero wait time (usually) at the County Clerk's office in Santa Ana. Just pick the date, and anyone of your choosing can legally perform the ceremony with the proper commission issued in advance by Orange County.

I got married in Vegas 28 years ago (and still married to her) at the Silver Bell Wedding Chappel (no longer the same business, but the building is still there as another chappel). It was great, had about 6 family and 4 friends. Did it on the three day weekend of Labor Day. Small reception in our hotel rooms (two ajoining rooms to accomidate everyone.

I do miss that we never had a big wedding at times. We re-newed our vows on our 10th anniversary in our church. Both are great memories, though.

I say- do what you like, and keep every aspect that is important to you.

BTW, isn't there a waiting period to get the liscence in CA? I thought that was one reason people went to Nevada for a quickie wedding?

No, no waiting period in California. Maybe there used to be but that is no longer the case. Over the decades marriage and divorce laws nationally have tended to come more into alignment with Nevada. According to this page about 27 states still have waiting periods.

Interesting to learn that in Idaho and Wisconsin you have to be provided with information about AIDS with your license.

Also (though tacky to bring up in this thread in particular) Nevada was initially more famous not for easy marriages (though they always existed) but rather for its equally liberal divorce laws. Before no fault divorce became the standard nationally going to Nevada to get a quick and easy divorce was an appealing alternative.

Of course he should have a say.

He thinks it is an interesting idea (in text messages) we will discuss it in detail when he gets home.

nah-we are discussing it all. He used to want a traditional wedding- but now he agrees with me that we have far better things to spend our $$ on. So we both are leaning to Vegas- and then Teresa had to go offer this idea and now my brain is on overdrive.
