I finally upgraded to 3.0 and am experiencing something rather annoying in the new version. I've yet to find a solution so I'm hoping someone here might be able to help.
I like to create folders that group certain sets of related bookmarks together. Say, for instance, I'm in a mood to read message boards, I will keep a folder that has links to all of my favorites. By hitting "open all in new tabs," the previous version of Firefox would close the current set of tabs, before opening the new set. Now, when I hit "open all in tabs," it fails to close the previous set, meaning that if I don't want to keep them open, I have to close each manually. I'm wondering if there is just some setting that needs to be changed or if the new version handles these bookmarks differently. Any thoughts? |

According to this, the feature went away in Version 3, Beta 2. Discussion on whether that is a good thing at that page. The option for controlling it still exists in about:config but doesn't do anything.

Thanks for the link, Alex. I was able to find a way to do it in the final post of the thread.
For anyone else who may prefer the old way of doing things, rather than use the "open all in tabs" function, simply center-click on the folder you wish to open and the tabs will be replaced. Whew! I was about to go back to 2.0 if there wasn't a work around. It is simply too annoying to have to close all previous tabs manually. ETA: Never mind. For some reason, that seemed to work the first time I tried it, but not during subsequent attempts. Back to square one. This sucks. |
