My dad did that too (mom had a green card until I was 18 or 19). It was one of our daddy/daughter rituals. It makes me happy to know my friends also experienced going to vote with their parents.

If I was going to be out of the area I'd do absentee. But I prefer going to vote, standing in line and taking in the atmosphere. This year is bound to be interesting.

I loved that my dad explained to me why he was voting the way he did. He also made it clear that it was OK to not agree with it and it didn't mean I had to vote the way he did when I could vote. To this day we discuss propositions and I usually have him explain them to me and tell me how he is going to vote, and why, so I can better understand them.

But... you're NOT voting for McCain???

Maybe if enough people voted for write-in candidates it'll get their attention.
By Jove, I think she knows what I am going to do when I go vote! You can read my mind!

We don't have polling places, it's all vote by mail. I do let Zach drop it into the box for me though. I do remember as a child going to vote with my Dad though.

I used to like going to polling places. I like the whole process of drawing the curtain and all that. But now, I'm lazy.

I volunteered at a polling place in Hawai'i a couple of times. It's fun to do. I was in charge of checking people in. I thought it was kind of cool seeing all those old people coming in to vote.

My polling place is just around the corner, half a block away. That said, I still prefer to absentee vote and vote early. In the less than 30 days left, I am unlikely to come close to changing my vote choice and I walk my ballot to City Hall and drop it off. It gives me an excuse to go to City Hall (which I almost never seem to do).

Well, then I'd have to kick them out of the house.

Apparently you missed my rather lengthy verbal puke session....not entirely sure which thread it was, but no....I am not voting for either.

I have *always* voted at the booth. There's something I love about... or at least loved enough to volunteer to be the supervisor at my former polling place... twice!

This year, I'm breaking preference and tradition so that I can vote on some issues I actually care a great deal about.

Next year, I suppose I should be a good girl and register here.
