HI!
|
Maybe it was because we were hiking in August (easy trail, though - the one with Queen Victoria at the end) but I was so incredibly hot and miserable by the end. I think that is when i first started to hate the desert.

You know, while I didn't like the icy parts of the trails, I just love hiking in the winter. We did some hikes in the snow. Beautiful. {and comfortable}

My brother claims that our spot on the north rim will be less hot. If he's wrong - the porch allegedly has rocking chairs and a great view.

Well, I'm too tired now, but with careful editing perhaps I can post some pic links later. We just poured one of the ladies in her husband's car. The hubby wasn't very happy!

Well...his clothes (and the eyesore motorhome) are gone as of last night. Seeing him face to face went well though, much better than I was anticipating. Nickolas came home happy, which is what I wanted. About the only thing that was said to me was that I need to give him the bills that need to be paid. Now I get to work out a budget to decide just what bills to give him and what that will leave me with to live on.
I see the lawyer tomorrow. It should be interesting to find out what that brings. I would love to have a video camera present when the papers are served. He honestly thought that he could continue to live a double life, that I was ok with everything. When all this is said and done Nickolas and I will be hitting DLR for a weekend, complete with a stay on property. Without David I can save money, no need for anything bigger than a double room. No worries about my reading into the wee hours and having a light on. Also no stay would be complete without new APs. This is something I am giving myself to look forward to, the light at the end of the tunnel. |

I think I may have come up with a solution to my chicken cage issues. I forgot about a cage I had bought 2 years ago, when Daisy popped. It should work until Chicken is large enough to go out in the pen outside. I would truly love to take her to a coop in Tehachapi, but Boy gets uber upset when I bring it up. Have I mentioned I am not a fan of birds?

I agree, it can get warm down there when you are hiking among the hoodoos, not much of a breeze down there.

I had such a great weekend! Possibly the best one I've had in... months, if not years, maybe. And I can hardly explain it.
We got so much stuff done... FRIDAY NIGHT - We bought/ordered our wedding rings - Had a nice dinner out SATURDAY - Finished and mailed the shower thank-you cards - Prepped the invites to go out Tuesday - Spent about ten hours on our movie SUNDAY - Shopped for our weekly produce at the farmer's market - Updated Target registry and bought table number frames and unity candle holder - Updated Crate & Barrel registry and purchased toasting flutes and cake-cutting devices - Enjoyed a lovely lunch at our favorite Indian restaurant - Worked two more hours on the movie - Took a snuggle-break - Cleaned the house - Made a nice dinner - Ate with and hung out with EH1812. We both feel rested as though we... I dunno, went to a spa, or spent the whole weekend lounging. We're in great moods and continue to have this strange bound of energy... and this is following a week where I was so stressed and frustrated that I was angsty-crying girl almost every night. There are two possible answers. One, time expanded and the reason we actually got all of this done is that we had, in fact, experienced the equivalent of two weekends. Two, that our recent creative activities suit us. Last Thursday, a friend of Tom's came over to get his input on her short film (in progress.) After I made a small comment about filters, she invited me over to critique as well. What followed was the crazy-ease of tag-team creativity between Tom and I... he'd suggest something, and then I'd build on it, then he'd build on that, and by the time we were done, her movie was on a much better track. It reminded us that, although we both have good jobs that we enjoy, we'd really only ever be happy storytelling-- specifically, storytelling on film. And that we should be working towards that. Working on our wedding movie has only increased that happy feeling. And that, friends, is why I think our weekend seemed so long. Because, creatively, our recently-dry wells had been refilled. |
