Encrypted Emails?

Is anyone using digital ID's to sign and/or encrypt emails?

I need to look into this for a client. My first question is, if I purchase an ID from vendor-A (say verisign) can I trade encrypted emails with someone who got theirs from vendor-B, C or D?

Yep that works. The signed certificate has a public element that provides the capability for others to unencrypt the contents.

Those are husbands words, not mine. I just handed him the tablet!
