Resolutions 2014
So far I have none. My record has been fairly abysmal in past years.
Anyone? Bueller?

Not formal, but I am going to take some acting/voiceover classes (I have previously pooh-poohed acting classes as mostly rubbish, and they may well be), with the intent of getting my businesses of cheese and show to co-exist. I haven't done a show in about 7 years.

I encourage you to check out your posts from last year
I think I did okay - may have liked more travel and more hedonism, but who wouldn't. I have to thank Alex for keeping me somewhat creative with his photography challenge - I seem to have accumulated over 300 pictures in my "Seen on my Dog Walk" tumblr (and I have to say I've enjoyed the collections some of you put together to meet this challenge. Going into 2014, my job situation is still uncertain though I'm confident I'll be fine whatever the outcome. There may be a relocation for me - or not. But in any case this has created enough of a thought experiment to make me realize what's important to me - and honestly a garage full of unused possessions isn't one of them. I hope to shed a lot of stuff this year so I can appreciate the things I really want to have. Acquiring hedons is still in the mix, but I think I will try to do a better job of creating them for others. I have a tendency to withdraw into myself and I hope to be more aware of that when it happens and reach out to others and hopefully be more participant than observer. I may add more as things fall into place, but that's my start for the new year.

I will also stay the course with my personal improvement plan. I'm down 30lbs since this time last year and I'm making good progress towards my goal of running the Disneyland 10k in late August 2014. Also, and this one is a biggie, LESS Facebook, MORE LoT!

I did my traditional punt last year, making no resolutions
Last year I was barely in to the new job, a bit overwhelmed but in love with the challenge. This year, the challenge continued. There were a few tough stretches that kept me away from home and working long difficult hours. Actually, in January I did end up making a resolution of sorts. At a company conference they presented some "employees of the year" awards. I made it my goal to win one this year. Frustratingly they seem to have dropped that practice as the company has grown. However, I'm fairly certain I would have had a better than good shot at winning and am proud of that. Don't need an award to validate that. I finished school. Was in real danger of falling into the, 'Oh, I've just got one more requirement' trap, extending indefinitely until it just faded away. But I caught myself just in time, went into overdrive and got my final project done. Which will soon be published as a whitepaper (for whatever that's worth). Looking forward - Hard to know. I could continue with the current company and stand a real chance of rising pretty high. It's a small company, I'm tight with a lot of the important people, and I've proven myself valuable. On the other hand, I am on an island, working from home in a different city than anyone else. And the amount of work MAY eventually catch up to me and kill me. Or we might get bought out within the year and everything changes. Who knows. But for now I'm good with continuing to give this job my all and reap the benefits. On a personal life level, happy to be healthy, 3/4 year olds are wonderful and horrible little people all at the same time, and there's never enough time for everything. What more can I ask for?

Well not a lot changed from last year. Which isn't great. I still need to get to the gym more, or at least on a more consistent schedule.
I'm still at my job. But it's still going to be going away at some point which has been very frustrating. Yes it's wonderful that I still have a job etc but the uncertainty is really getting to me. I could go out and get something else but I feel a strong loyalty after 14 years to stay and help close it out. So to sort of counteract that I got part time job at Pier 1 which I am really loving. I get to see people! Lots of nice co-workers. It's busy most of the time. Little extra cash. It's really been a wonderful mental pick up and I'm hoping I can stay on after the holidays. Maddie will be off to college or home to college this year and that's going to be a huge change. And a lot of stress in what can be afforded etc. So trying to get back to logging food, getting to the gym. Trying to at a minimum average 10,000 steps a week on my fitbit. Take down the Christmas decorations before February. Send out Christmas cards before 4th of July.
