Cemetery Film Screenings - Sunset Blvd. - July 9th

Anyone interested in going? Iv'e been wanting to go for ever and I ADORE Sunset Boulevard. Saturday, July 9th.

They do this almost weekly during the summer, so there will be others.

Quote:

CINESPIA PRESENTS:

Cemetery Screenings every Saturday, all summer long!

SUNSET BLVD.

Directed by Billy Wilder

Saturday, July 9th

Gates at 7:30

Film at 9:00

Hollywood Forever Cemetery

6000 Santa Monica Blvd at Gower

$10 admission. Parking is Free

In this scathing dark comedy, incomparable writer/director Billy Wilder turns his gaze towards the world of the movie-making business. A fading silent film star hides an up-and-coming screenwriter on the run, slowly entrapping him in a deadly web. Gloria Swanson gives one of the greatest performances in history as the grandiose has-been teetering on the edge of sanity. What better place to watch the film than in the shadow of Paramount studios and alongside so many silent film stars who are now forgotten by the denizens of modern Hollywood? The film features Cemetery resident and legendary film-maker Cecil B. DeMille.

Bring blankets, picnic dinner and drinks for this special screening below (and above) the stars.

DJ Jun spins before and after the screening

And Hollywood Forever cemetery backs up against Paramount Studios, which produced and is featured in the film.

You can get (a little too) close-up with Mr. DeMille. I wonder how many other people in the film are in this cemetery?

Well, I don't know as far as people in the film, but there are quite a few celebrities at this cemetery.

Valentino
Tyrone Power
Mel Blanc
Peter Finch
Douglas Fairbanks Sr. and Jr.
Benjamin "Bugsy" Seigel
Jayne Mansfield
Joan Hackett
Peter Lorre
Virginia Rappe (the woman supposedly killed by Fatty Arbuckle)

I would love to see a film there, ESPECIALLY "Sunset Blvd.". We love that movie. Don't think this weekend is going to work for us though (damn work schedules). If another film comes up later that people would be interested in seeing, we'll do our best to attend. It sounds like a great place to go see a movie.

That cemetary itself is worth a half-day trip! It's something else! Sunset Blvd is such a classic. I daresay I even enjoyed Sir ALWebber's musical version too <ducks rapidly>, especially when they pay homage to the movie itself with the chase sequence playback.
