Kitty fiasco!

Last night I'm chatting away with libraryvixen about Harry Potter theories, having a grand time, when Michael comes to the stairs looking pathetically lonely. I make my way down (this is about 11pm) (because I also have a date with Jon Stewart) only to look out my patio door to see a shocking sight.

I see my Great Dane Karma, standing there looking intently at a tiny kitten with every hair sticking up on her tiny body, back arched and pressed against the glass door. She looked like a cat straight out of a horror movie. It was quite scarey.

I open the door to rescue the poor demon kitty, but this makes the kitty run. Karma is a good dog, but she has a very strong chase instinct and hasn't been around cats since she was a puppy. So Karma cuts the kitty off and grabs her in her mouth and flips the kitty in the air. I was so afraid she was going to kill the cat. As I'm screeching at Karma like a madwoman, Michael manages to get her far enough away from the kitty for me to find her and scoop her up.

In case you don't think a kitten can kill you, think again. This one was super deadly. As I picked her up she managed to sink her fang all the way in to my finger. I literally had to insert another finger into her mouth and lift her fang out of my finger. She had several claws in the action too. I actually thought for a while that she might be ferile from the way she was jumping around the bathroom. It turns out that she was just scared for her life.

She's been in the spare bathroom ever since. She'll let me hold her and pet her now and she ate quite a bit of yogurt. She looks like she's probably 3 or 4 months old. I wish so badly that I could keep her. I fear the only thing that would keep Karma off of her would be a shock collar, and I'm just not prepared to do that. We'll go around our neighborhood tonight to see if anybody is missing her. If not then off to the humane society she goes. I call her Sizzles (it's from a very funny British cartoon).

It was funny, but I felt quite brave last night. I conquered a kitten. Victory for me.

I've always realized that about cats. They can inflict a pretty good amount of damage to a person, and you've got to be pretty motivated to want to deal with it. But if it comes down to it, even the worst a cat can do to you isn't enough to stop you from picking that cat up and doing what you want if you've got a good enough reason.

I guess that's why I felt brave. I knew I'd take a good amount of damage, but there simply wasn't time to do anything else. Still, a bit silly to feel brave about a tiny kitty. Shows how much adventure there is in my life.

OMGA! I would've just been horrified! Karma just doing what she thinks she's supposed to and kitten doing the same. The don't always understand the benevolence of people.

Ihope you find kitties' home. I doubt that her and Karma would mesh too well after that introduction. But, then, you never know.

We had a cat when Karma was a puppy. She never left that cat alone. It was just playful, but most dogs will back off if a cat hisses and scratches them, not Karma. She is fearless. The toughest cat in the world wouldn't bother her. I think if I had hours to work with her then I could make it work. Or a shock collar. I don't have time to do it the nice way and I won't do it the mean way. The second she dies though I'm getting a cat.

My kitties think they're in the middle of a fiasco right now....the vet put them on a diet today.

Actually, the damage could be a lot worse. My left index finger took all the teeth damage, so there are six or seven puncture wounds. My right pinky took some pretty ouchy claw damage, but other than that there are only a few random scratches.

I'm undecided whether or not this cat is completely tame. She'll let me pick her up, but she still hisses and runs when I enter the bathroom. We're backed up to a farm, so maybe it's a farm kitty. I only have a few more neighbors to ask and then she goes tomorrow. Le sigh...

OUCH!!! I know I could deal with a cat like that if I had to, but I don't know if I would....I might've just let nature take it's course and let the dog have it Horrible I know but I just don't deal well with with pissed off animals. I mean, damn, a fang in your freakin' finger!

So you get kudos from me, tiny kitty or not!
