The Digs: La Creperie in Long Beach, Belmont Shore

The Gig: Dinner

The Scene: A little slice of France in Long Beach’s Belmont Shore. The place itself is a montage of French culture with murals and artifacts paying homage to the Metro, Pigalle, and the countryside of Provence. In the evenings, you can rest in the lounge area and enjoy the swanky sounds of a live jazz trio.

The Bar & Lounge Area

Crepes, of course, are the featured meal – and there is a variety to choose from. There are the traditional sweet crepes including the traditional Cherries Jubilee, but the flavors run from simple to complex, and their simple lemon butter sugar and whipped cream crepe, the Bolero, remains a delightful way to end the evening.

The Dining Room

However its the savory crepes make a meal, and the selection is both varied and eclectic. The Parisienne, filled with cheese, feta, chicken, spinach, and topped with a basil cream sauce; La Mer, mixed seafood and sun-dried tomatoes in crème sauce; Curry; the “Texan” – clearly there is something for everyone. And even if you don’t want crepes, the menu has expanded to include pasta, meat, and fish as well. The cheese and paté plate with crusty bread appetizer is a meal in itself.

One things he didn't mention: The appetizer crepes of chicken, apple, caramelized onion and green pepper served with a slightly sweet creme fraiche. It was EXTREMELY delicious and decadent.

They also have a Bakery Case where you can pop by for a snack while you're whiling away the house on the entertaining 2nd Street.

I don't think € would be happy if you whiled the house away, NA...

But yes... it's delicious, and has such a happy atmosphere that it cured all that ailed me that evening. Plus, the Kir Royale was a surprising treat; both delicious and not too pricey!

YUM! We sort of had something like that in Fashion Island but it went under. This place looks totally cool!

We went back the other night and had 2 new types of savory crepes and we were just as thrilled. We did go for the Bolero again though. YUMMY!
