Is it worth the 50 beans it'll cost for me to be able to open my mac iPod and yank the songs out?
Opinions... Mac Geniuseses? Helps! I wanna get my music off so I can reorganize my tunes... Love, Erica

HI!
|
Can you then convert your IPOD to a PC iPod? I can't believe you can't just transfer the stuff off of your iPod to your PC. There's an Apple store at the Sphincter, er, Spectrum. I would go in there and ask a genius.
![]() Besides, there's a guy there who looks creeply like he could be your brother. Last edited by Not Afraid : 03-24-2006 at 05:41 PM. |

okay, here's the thing... did you put stuff on your pod that you dont have on your home system?
Shame on you. ![]() That said.... In My Opinion you have one totally legal and "what they want you to do" option. Burn a cd of your playlist. Now, you can copy the files from your pod, and place the files on your computer... BUT, in my expereince, itunes renames the dumb things It takes some work, but you can make the files work on your home system, but it isnt as easy as it could be. I personally think this was the whole reason they made this software like they did, so that you couldnt just use it as a file sharing program. Is there a software for $50 that I dont know about? Interesting idea.

Technically yes, I have stuff on my iPod that I don't have on my home computer. I have music from my old macintosh on here. Long story on why, not gonna get into it here. It's my music, bought and paid for by moi.
![]() Well, the issue seems to be that my PC wants to reformat my Mac/PC iPod that's currently set to my old mac. My PC won't even recognize it as anything, it seems. On my old laptop, it sees the pod, but I don't know how to work with Unix, etc well enough to see beyond what it lets me see up front, which is to say, I can't see the music files when I open it up as a hard drive. As a side note: I dumped a glass of water while walking by my old laptop a few days ago, and it has yet to be able to turn on... ![]() If I understand correctly, there are programs that will let you work on a mac formatted iPod with a pc - like ephPod which is a free program (or so it seems), that will let you view the music folders, etc (or so it seems) - however, without macOpener, it won't lemme check out the goods at all... ![]() So, while ephPod is free, MacOpener is not. I don't know what to do... /sad

I think I still have that xplay disk, and I have room on my external drive if you want to attempt to use Shiny as a portal. And I'm not to far from two Apple stores if that doesn't work.
Or I can make a call and see if a certain Mac guru can meet us at the GD and we can use his laptop as a portal. |
