Retro Desserts?
Does anyone here have this cookbook?
Link. There's also titles like "Retro Breakfast," "Retro Baking," "Retro Pies," "Retro Barbeque," and "Retro Happy Hour." |

No, but I am hoping you will get a copy and try a few of them out, perhaps on the local bellhop or former shuttle guide population. I'll even help out with the sifting. (As a kid, I always loved the little sifter device and the shucka-chucka sound it made as I pulled the handle back and forth. Whee!)

Modern flour does not usually need sifting.

All of the cookbooks my mom had when I was growing up were from the 1950s/60s - so my cooking seems kind of retro anyway...
I'm making some margarita ole bars today - lemon bars with a little kick... |

I opened some of the sample pages from this book on Amazon, and there was some text there about cake making, encouraging triple sifting. I don't know if that is supposed to improve the quality of the cake, or if they just want to make the experience as retro as possible.

My guess is that they want to make the experience retro. I don't know that I'll buy the book--a lot of the reviews say there's mistakes in the recipes.
I make alterations to most recipes, but they ought to at least work as they're written. |

If you want retro recipes, just pick up an old Betty Crocker cookbook. I have my grandmother's!

But I don't sift. My grandmother's probably very disappointed in me. Of course, she'd be disappointed that I can't measure ingredients by sight.
