SNAP Which Post-Punk band are you?Quiz

Quote:

You scored as Throbbing Gristle. Throbbing Gristle are probably one of the most notorious and controversial bands of all time. Their proto-industrial music is self-consciously confrontational and alienating whilst their lyrics often deal with disturbing subject matter. Their best album is probably 1979's deceptively-named Jazz Funk Greats

Which Post Punk band are you?
I could have been any one of those top 3...had a tie-breaker question.

You scored as The Teardrop Explodes.

Liverpool’s The Teardrop Explodes were one of the few post-punk band to achieve commercial success, with their eccentric front-man Julian Cope becoming an unlikely pin up in the early 80s. Their music was often called ‘neo-psychedelic’ due to their sixties sound and Cope’s surreal lyrics, best heard on 1980’s classic ‘Kilimanjaro’.

You scored as The Fall.

Manchester’s The Fall are one of the most prolific and enduring of the original post-punk bands. Mark E. Smith’s surrealist rants and idiosyncratic brand of ‘Country & Northern’ continue to command a large cult following, their debut, 1979’s ‘Live at the Witch trials’ is as good a place to start as any.

You scored as The Pop Group.

The music of Bristolian band the Pop Group was a confrontational mix of jazz, funk and dub reggae filtered through punk rock. Their left-wing lyrics and innovative music are best heard on their 1979 debut 'Y'.

What the HELL is TE doing in this group? And, if TE, why not Echo and the Bunnymen?

Damn, I need to pull out my vinyl. I would re-order these a bit to my liking:

The SLits
Gang of Four
Wire
Public Image
Cabaret Voltaire
The Fall
Throbbing Gristle
Pop Group

I saw many of these bands live, though.

I got the Pop Group, too. Not that I know who they are. I don't listen to too much punk.

Now I've gotta go find some Pop Group and Teardrop Explodes to listen to (based on the descriptions, I bet I'll like The Pop Group better)

I'd actually put you in the TE camp.

Wasn't TE Mike Scott? I'm forgetting the whole family tree. Where's my Podman?

Echo and the Bunnymen begat Teardrop Explodes.......

Julian Cope, who played with Ian McCulloch (Echo) in the band Crucial Three before forming TE

You scored as Cabaret Voltaire.

Sheffield-based band Cabaret Voltaire were formed slightly before punk but are often said to be godfathers of electronica and industrial music. Their music is a innovative combination of synthesisers, tape samples and electronic beats, best heard on 'The Original Sound of Sheffield 1978-82'.
