I don't know, this one just sounds a bit fishy. Does anyone who has a sidekick know for sure that it auto-uploads photos and such? I know my phone does not work that way.

I'd be mad if someone stole my Sidekick. Let's just say that I'm Batman, I'd be pis sed if someone stole Robin.

I'm not sure that these activities were not "vengeful" since I'm still not sure why the whole matter couldn't have been turned over to the police to begin with.

Because that's not nearly as effective as the notoriety caused by having millions of people know you are a theif.

If you read through the whole blog, you will see that 1) he gave the offenders notice that he would try to resolve this without going to the police, and 2) once he did elect going to the police, it didn't go well. The police really didn't want to do anything about this but were pressured into it by the resulting publicity this issue wrought.
