How's this for a tip-off to the new corporate mentality: In Disney's own convoluted press release about Disneyland's 50th anniversary, the word "Disneyland" isn't even in the headline!

The head of Disney's Parks and Resorts division, Jay Rasulo, can't even refer to Disneyland as a theme park - to him, it's a "concept" or a "state of mind." Perhaps Jay believes that, conceptually, a state of mind can't be run down and in need of repair?

Any Disney executives who wonder why the company is regarded with such derision by so many former aficionados ought to look no further than their own press release, which treats Disneyland and the Disney name with an aversion bordering on disdain and contempt.
