and Smarts is up there in that big long list
others may defer to Political Influence
or Physical Strength
or Sheer Balls-Out Confidence
but for me Power is personified in
knowing what the fck is going on

too much me on display
can't take it back afterwards

and it's the others that withdraw
at the sign of weakness and difference

some things really are secrets
not because we dubbed them such
but because they were born that way
problems beyond empathies
true differences underneath
even if babbled to every stranger on the bus
still inflict shock to the listener
and drain worth from the confessor

Berating and nagging and harping on

why would I be here if I want to be elsewhere
is this pleasing some part of me I can't reach
is it slothful me
or masochist me
or rebellious me
and what percentage of me is pleased
it's gotta be a simple majority at least
should I accept this
that if I do it, it must be good for me
otherwise I wouldn't do it
