CNN Pipeline news

A few weeks back I signed up with CNN's Internet based "pipeline" service on a trial basis. I've grown a bit attached to it now.

It really does show a better more accurate view of the news. For example, I've been watching "live" coverage of Ernesto preparations. What they have is a feed from local station WPLG. Most of the time what you see is the reporter lady walking back on forth in a T-shirt with a group of kids playing on the beach in the background. However when she's ready to "go live" she puts on her bright yellow rain slicker and matching hat, buttons it up, turns so the minimal wind is directly into her face and adjusts the camera so the beach looks deserted before starting her report.

Yeah...I had an aunt who had a real Satilite dish back in the late 70s...she got to see that kind of stuff all the time--kinda cool.

This makes me think of a documentary about Fox"News" where they went to Reagan's library on his birthday one year to get footage of a birthday celebration there. Except there was no celebration so the Fox folk improvised and staged one. The footage made it look like there was a big to do...

I read someplace the CNN pipeline displaced hundreds of villagers and engangered wildlife. And for what? So that we might get cheaper news?
