Flooding in Washington
Since I don't know exactly where out Washington LoT friends are, I hope you're not affected by the flooding I'm hearing about.

HI!

We've got a few Swankers in the area. I've seen most posting recently. WB, Pru and SleepyJeff all live in WA.

This is the first I'm hearing about the floods. I certainly hope that everyone in that area is doing okay.

Funny the way life works. Just yesterday I was watching the Rialto wildfire live on CNN and saying to myself, Damn! I'm sure glad my dad moved out of that neighbourhood (the fire was within a football field of two of his old house) and up to Washington.

I'm not near any rivers, so I'm not having any direct effects. There is a lot of flooding around, though. They closed one entrance to the airport parking garage yesterday morning, but it's back open today. All flights in and out of Seatac were on hold for a few hours yesterday. A state of emergency has been declared in 18 counties. The biggest issue around me is urban flooding from blocked storm drains. Because we're not close enough to rivers for flooding from them, people don't expect to suddenly run into huge engine-stalling puddles.

It's mostly the areas west of the Cascades that are getting nailed- we have rain and high winds, but atop Mt. Doom I am relatively safe. Until it snows, anyway.
![]() Oh, and the West-siders have an unfair aquatic advantage: webbed fingers and toes. No way I'm going up against that. I will accept any challenges that involve operating a vehicle on ice, though. |
