Harryhausen Creature List
Someone's gone through quite an effort here. A comprehensive collection of looping film clips of Ray Harryhausen's creations. You can order them by creature name or bye film.

The Sceraptosaur scene from The Animal World is a must-see.

I am a lifelong fan of Ray and I am still amazed at what he was able to achieve with little to no budgets and nothing but talent and sheer inventiveness. He was a disciple of Willis O'brien (see Mighty Joe Young) and was greatly inspired by Obrien's work on King Kong to pursue his dream. He is best friends with another famous Ray, and they collaborated together on The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, which makes watching the picture that much more fun. (To me, anyway.)
Check out the Earth vs the Flying Saucers clip for a nice little jab at our "foreign" policy. |

Harryhausen is one of the real geniuses of film. That man accoplished incredible things, almost single handedly and was long overdue for the laifetime Academy Award he received. The skeletons in Jason and the Argonauts has long been one of my favorites as well as everything in 7th Voyage of Sinbad. His films always make me smile, they're so creative and inventive.
Also why I love Nick Park, dedicated to stop motion animation, even in this day of everything CGI. thanks for posting a really great link.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention where I found this link (as well as discovered the bacon alarm clock).
Rocketboom. It's a daily video blog thing. We were turned on to it by, of all things, TiVo which has it listed as one of their extra-content channels to download. It's an odd beast with episodes ranging from a collection of stories-of-interest (such as the Harryhausen site and the bacon alarm) to short documentaries of biting social commentary. Isolated, a single episode seems a bit odd, it took us a few viewings to "get" the show, but we love it.
