Are you unfamiliar with anything anymore ??

The thread on Amazon filler items led to a review of an item that contained this quote:

Quote:
"Also some recipes use "rennet tablets" something that I'm not familiar with."
The person must be on the net to write the review, therefore why couldn't they have done a google search on the words "Rennet Tablet" ???

...sometimes I think people are missing the boat!

What is this "internet" thing I keep hearing people talk about?

Maybe they are standoffish and don't wish to get familiar?

Maybe they are like me and don't always know where to look. Although I can figure out google search and just recently learned about pictures there too.

I know, I'm a little slow at this stuff. I still can't figure out grabbing pictures and finding them again or a myriad of other things. But I keep on trying and my husband and son just keep on laughing! Actually my 10 year old has been an invaluable help to his dear Old mother when it comes to electronics!!

Well, now that I've done a Google search on the phrase, "Also some recipes use "rennet tablets" something that I'm not familiar with," and read Sourdough (Hawaii)'s review of the book, "Old-Fashioned Homemade Ice Cream: With 58 Original Recipes (Paperback)," I feel compelled to point out that the review was posted on Sept. 8, 2000. Wondering just how much googling was going on in 2000, I found myself, in a few short clicks of the mouse, at Google's corporate history page. While Google was certainly off and running in September of 2000, the earliest entry I can find on rennet tablets is on a page about cheese making, posted on November 2, 2000.

So there.

Although they could have done a Yahoo search (Lycos? Altavista? Ask Jeeves?), I'm not sure they would have found much.

I've known about rennet since the mid '90s, when a vegetarian friend told me about it. (why she had to be careful about eating certain types of cheese)
It comes from the stomachs of cows, and is used in making cheese.
(this was before my use of the internets)
Though I suppose Webster's might be of use too

I think that the overarching point is that trivia is dead.

Quite right - coming up with an internet-proof trivia contest is hard, but still do-able.
