and I asked a friend and got this back: Donna, I do not know any classic, time-honored or local colloquial toasts - a lifetime spent drinking coffee or scotch alone . . . . However, if you friend wishes to please a French audience, she need only say one of the following: A la Patrie! (in honor of the whole country of France) Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite (with its patriotic echo of Ze Revolution)

A good start might be to do a Google search for toasts and then start wading through those results which might be French specific. Searching for "French Toasts" just brings a lot of recipes

French drinking toast, eh? What they usually say is Salut! or A votre santé!.

Any of these proverbs would work. If you need translation of any of them, let me know. |

Now that I have a moment I will explain.

In August the Madam of our House will be retiring (Colorado Rogues) and the Mistress of the House will take her place. She plans to make some changes- for example we will be going for a more courtesan style as opposed to street walkers ![]() She wants a french influence- Le Maison de la Joile Filles (feel free to correct my verbiage) For the retirement and promotion ceremony we are planning a drinking ceremony- retiring the Madam and her House drink and introducing the new Madam and her House drink. So I am looking for inspiration for the toast- honoring the outgoing and welcoming the incoming. I need it in French- so I can learn it and will be offering the toast at the ceremony.3894? If I write one- can you help me translate it? |
