A Night at the Amphitheatre
I went to the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre and the Cinematic Titanic show the evening of last (as it is now 3 a.m. and properly qualifies as morning)
Anyway, the show was great! And I had -- maybe one of the best evenings since, well, since my last best evening (Ibid. page 31-67 "My Best Evenings") Perhaps you have heard the expression 'the most fun you can have with your pants on'? Well, I had such a great time I briefly entertained taking my pants off, just so I could tell the difference -- it was that perfect. The bad film of the evening was called The Doomsday Machine from 1972 and starred Bobby Van, Will Farrell and Casey (Top Ten) Kasem! It was truly awful, certainly worthy of jest and the gang came through with a lot of great jokes. Plus it was all outside, so we had the stars above and fireflies dangling about us. I also ran into some old friends of mine I hadn't seen in many a golden moon. My whole day went like that -- everything went exactly as it should. Every parking spot I needed to get, I got, every train I caught I did with seconds to spare, every meal I ate was perfectly prepared, and since I wasn't driving I could have that second margarita! Lo! I didn't spill anything on me, I didn't lose my wallet, nobody over six foot sat in front of me and I was in the first group on the shuttle back to the train. After I got home I received an e-mail from an old friend containing an mp3 of a hereto unreleased George Harrison song! And ... it was beautiful, a great little song in the vein of Crackerbox Palace. Earlier that afternoon my friend Fred offered me a job driving dwarves to and fro a MTV shoot. Truly, it was not one of those calls a person offen gets, so I was truly tempted, though I think I made the right decision. For those errant MST3K fans who missed the show -- too bad!
