bay area foodies!

ok, so like....a good friend of myself and Ponine, a chocolatier and proprietor of one of our fave hangouts Eclipse Chocolat, is looking for some places in the bay area to start selling some of his incredible edibles. With that, have any of you familiar with the streets of SF, Berkley, and Oakland some recommendations as to where he might want to look for new NorCal outlets? His wares just seem such a natural for the SF foodie scene that we're hoping to point him in a good direction.

thanks a ton in advance.

Hey Capt! Does your friend want to do the Farmer's Market scene or put his stuff in local grocery stores?

Im thinking hes leaning towards more specialty shops and the like...although the farmers market thing might work too.

when you say 'grocery store'....you dont mean like Ralphs and the like, correct?

Well, the foodie-grocery are Whole Foods, SF Real Foods and Mollie Stone's.

There are some specialty food stores are in the Ferry Building (including a Rechiutti chocolates). Lemme check the yellow pages!

In the old days I would have recommended Confetti, but they are down to a small single shop, that sells more coffee than chocolate these days.

The California Ave farmer's market in Palo Alto, every Sunday from 8am-1pm would be a great place to set up a booth with gourmet chocolates.

I'm far from an expert but as a tourist I'd probably seek out the specialty shops in the Ferry Building. They also had some sort of Farmer's Market outside when I was there in April.

There was also this really yummy coffee place that sold chocolate in I think Little Italy. It was by an Italian restaurant that had white xmas lights on the outside of it. All I remember is that we found it when we were making our way to Coit Tower and there was a mailbox and metered parking outside. And the street wasn't to hilly.

Speaking of foodie supermarkets, how about Andronico's?

(edit: Odd... I could swear there's an Andronico's in Walnut Creek or Danville or something, but I don't see that listed as a location on their site)

(edit: Aha... the Danville one became Lunardi's)
