Speeding Ticket / Traffic School
So - I got a speeding ticket yesterday. Bah! Going 83 on the freeway near the 15/91.
![]() ![]() Any idea how much it's going to cost me? What's the procedure? There's no amount to pay on the ticket itself... And traffic school - I still have to pay the ticket if I go to traffic school - right? Anyone recommend a less then tortuous traffic school? What about the online ones? Am I better off doing that you think? The ticket was also for lack of proof of insurance - which I have - just didn't have the card with me - which I understand I can get signed off on in some way.

The amount for the ticket will come in the mail. If that's in a 65MPH zone, I'm guessing you're looking at a few hundred dollars once you factor in all the fees. Traffic school is required, and does not get you out of paying for the ticket. If online traffic school is an option for you, do it. By far the best choice.

Oh Jeez, what a birthday gift!
![]() I hope the day was otherwise wonderful. I do not have an answer for your questions, perhaps the local gov website?

You will be mailed a bill in a week or so. It will contain information about traffic school. There will be 2 amounts due, one if you want to go to traffic school, one if you don't. Traffic school will save your butt with insurance rates. I would recommend going to court if you have the time and seeing if they can reduce the charges of not having your insurance card with you (be sure to bring your card though). You can call the traffic division of the courthouse to find out information about days and hours.
Online traffic school would be your best bet. I believe Riverside county offers it. If not, comedy traffic school would be better than traffic school run by the Sheriff's department. |

HI!

On line traffic school is great. And, going to traffic school keeps your insurance rates down.

That's why i don't drive more than 5 miles or so over the speed limit. Speeding gets you no where and you get picked out by the cops in some instances. I perfer driving in the right hand lane as well unless i need to be in the left lane or passing someone.
Well good luck and that stinks about not having a insurance card with you. I carry one in my wallet but the insurance company keeps sending me paper ones to carry since my coverage is 6 months in incriments. What a way on your birthday of all things. I'd do traffic school online. Good luck. |

That's logical, since that's where all the changes occur- people getting on and off the freeway all go through the right lane. I was talking with a truck driver over the weekend and his suggestion for improving traffic flow through cities was to put the trucks in the left lane (because they mostly go through and don't exit, and would be happier not being involved in merging traffic).
Nonetheless, I also like to be in an outside lane; I like to have somewhere to go when the guy in front of me does something stupid. I drive on the right because I also like to keep my speed down (improves my gas mileage). I just keep an eye out for idiots.
