If people want to be sexually stunted that's their choice, but I like sex and all things sexual. It's one of the better parts of life. The "sex is bad" morality police really screw up something that should be normal, natural and fun.

Sex is good, but, by general consensus, we don't have it in the middle of the street, which is where Prince did his thing. I didn't watch the halftime show, but I was watching the game with my daughter when that stupid guys-stripping-to-wash-the-Chevy commercial came on. While I don't believe the atmosphere around sporting events needs to be completely sanitized for the wife and kids, it still seems to me that somewhere along the line, the Super Bowl started to link sex, violence, celebrity and money a little too explicitly for my taste.

The guys-stripping commercial was supposed to be funny, not sexy. I cracked up at that. As for Prince "doing his thing in the middle of the street", if you think touching a silhouetted guitar should be kept to the bedroom, all I have to say is

Sex, violence, celebrity and money are fun, in moderation. If someone decides to have irresponsible sex, hurt someone, drop their own convictions in order to be famous and rich - then that person is an idiot and deserves what they get, regardless of where they heard about these things.

It wasn't like some goofy European commercial where someone is caught naked and made to look silly. Like the Terrell Owens/Desperate Housewives bit and Austin Powers' shadowplay, the commercial used sexual motifs towards supposedly humorous ends. Every parent has to tell their daughter when they reach a certain age that, no, you can't change your clothes in public. Now I don't know if my daughter appreciated the sexual motifs in the Chevy commercial, but she was shocked and asked what they were doing. It wasn't the end of the world. I said something like, "I don't know, it's a commercial, they're just being silly," and we moved on.

I'm not sure what you mean by your comment about the guitar. Prince was simulating masturbation in public. If a manager did that at work, he'd be fired or the company would be sued. If a teacher did it, he'd probably be arrested. If a student did it, he'd be counseled or suspended. If, as recent history indicates, the NFL is going to deliver a sex show at halftime, it should make that point more explicit with appropriate warnings.
