Zombies are usually slow and clumsy, it would be better to get away from them in an open space, (street, avenue, parking lot) So hiding in a building, closed space can possibly trap you inside and the "Z's" will multiply and barracade you in.

However, the only zombies that can run are the one's with the rage virus...
