I seriously would look into joining a larger, older corporation. The pay and benefits are usually competitive and you'll be positioned in a good place for promotion when the mass of baby boomers begin to retire.

I can say that Wells Fargo was a great place to work. They pay well, and are really flexible on time off, and my benefits were great. It would be a great place for you to look, especially with their mortgage division. Even if you just went over as an Admin Asst., it would get you into the right area, and they are always promoting from within.
