I really doubt Musharraf is behind this one. There are just too many other groups that stand to gain more from the resultant chaos to lay this one at his feet. I do have to say that she may have been brave, but she was very foolish. She should have been more cautious- so many things depended, or appeared to depend, on her survival and participation in the governing of Pakistan, and she is running around that powderkeg of a country in a ****ing convertible?

In the original interview, Bhutto gave Rather rare insights into the political maneuvering that may be shaping Pakistan's future.

The U.S. government had reportedly been working behind the scenes to facilitate a power sharing agreement between Bhutto and Musharraf as a means of legitimizing the regime of America's close ally in the war on terror.

Bhutto was the first woman to lead a Muslim nation.

WHEN: "DAN RATHER REPORTS - A Prime Minister in Exile" airs Friday, December 28 at 6:00 p.m. ET with additional airings scheduled for Saturday, December 29 and Sunday December 30 at 9:00 a.m. ET

I stand corrected- it was a sunroof. She stood incorrectly, and is now dead. Sorry- don't mean to be glib, but I think her actions were incredibly stupid and now a whole lot more bad things are going to happen just because she didn't have the good sense to protect her ass better. I suspect she may have caught Martyritis- it's the only explanation I can think of for this sort of behavior on her part.

I think she knew that assasination was likely and had accepted that possibility. Knowing from past experience as Prime Minister that the real power of the country lies in the military and not the government I suspect she also accepted the fact that her death might bring about change perhaps more than her election would.

Regardless, she approached her role fearlessly, which is usually an admired trait in leaders. And in a world where people regularly die for causes, it's nice to see that sacrifices for democracy are made at the leadership level and not just an expectation of foot soldiers.

According to Pakistan and the White House she was killed by Al Quada, and the shots missed. It was the bomb that killed her.
