Mine was an assembly-line wedding, I guess, at Excalibur. We had a half hour time slot; everybody in, sign the papers, say your bit, take some pics, and we were done! They provided the flowers, had the traditional bride march music, had a videographer/photog, and we got the higher package which included a night's stay, dinner, breakfast, and a bottle of champagne and two glasses. I think they were going for the Merlin look with the minister, but he ended up looking more like Wolfman Jack in a purple robe. I was quite amused.
Advantage of Vegas- marriage license easy to get and cheap; you can do last-minute planning for a lot of locations, and it's easy for people to get to. Lots of hotel rooms. Disadvantages- some people think tacky when they think Vegas, and may not come to the wedding. It doesn't have to be tacky unless you want it to be. We looked at an Elvis wedding but it was too much to deal with at the time. They have the chapel, you get two hula girls or showgirls, Elvis sings two songs, and it's broadcast on the internet during the ceremony and is available for... a month afterwards. They'll pick you up from your hotel in a pink Cadillac. I don't have the brochure anymore but it was on the Stratosphere end of the Strip I think.

We got married in Vegas exactly two years ago today! It was the easiest thing in the world -- we brought along two friends who wanted to go anyway, and were happy to stand up for us (we didn't want strangers) -- and we just took a cab to the licensing bureau from our hotel. After the 10 minutes or so to get the license we just jumped into the nearest limo (all these wedding chapel companies lurk at the bureau hawking their packages) and they took care of everything. Easy-peasy. We spent more on silly totchkes at the chapel (gotta get the tacky tee-shirt, right?) than we did on the wedding. Oh, and we told the Hilton at check-in that we were in Vegas to get married and they knocked $100 off the bill and upgraded us to a huge suite, and sent up a nice basket of goodies!
It was great fun, and there was no stress... Now, I'm going out to a nice restaurant for an Anniversary dinner!
