We've been cleaning closets here. Mostly Maddy's clothes so far but I'll get to the better stuff next weekend.

Any general guidelines on pricing?

I usually price-to-sell. So, here is my basic guideline for non-collectible items:

10-15% of the original price/value, depending on condition and brand name of item.

(i.e. $100 evening gown worn more than 5 or 6 times - $10. $100 Guess jeans in good repair - $15. Generic Walmart jeans - $2. Basic coffee maker - $2. Short veneer bookcase, no scratches - $6. Tall oak bookcase, light scratches - $15.)

The only exception to that rule are well-read paperback books which I'll usually price at 25-50 cents each.

I keep it cheap, and I usually have very little left by day's end, and a nice pile of cash.
