It was one of those things that even as we were discussing it a while back, I couldn't imagine actually happening. What a loss for the world from a man who had given so much kindness to the world.

Thanks for digging the thread up, it's a really nice tribute.

I've been dreading this loss, though I knew it was coming. I'd heard he had pancreatic cancer, which is what took my dad at the age of 82. The parallels (my dad didn't give millions to charity, but he did have sparkling blue eyes and meant the world to me) made this seem personal.

Paul Newman was such a remarkable man, who had a wonderful life worth celebrating. I am happy for him, that he no longer feels pain, but I'm so sad for his family.
