How to convert an M4V to QuickTime or burn to DVD

I've got the file, and I'm running it through my encoder right now. Not sure what will happen, because it really didn't like it... it kept telling me to open it only through iTunes.

However, it does appear to be compressing something... I'll know in about a half hour if it worked.

It's been over three hours: how's it looking?

I wonder if it is another format and somebody just changed the extension in an effort to get it to work somewhere (I've run into that on video before). Since you've had trouble and the program Isaac recommended didn't work, I am starting to suspect that. Or the file might be corrupted just enough to cause problems.

He said he purchased it from iTunes, so it should definitely be an m4v
