An interesting tidbit from another site....

Multiple people have reported that AP's are good for fastpasses even if they were not scanned in at the front gate that day.

That's been true in the past -- especially when FastPass was first introduced -- but it hasn't worked in several years. Unless Disney has changed something very recently.
