Really? I don't see it that way. Oh, I see the influence, but Michelle's stuff seems more shapeless, like potato sacks. There's a subtle line, and I think she crosses it.

Compared to Laura "I bought the same old lady suit in 5 colors" Bush it's quite the breath of fresh air. I'd also contrast it with Hillary Clinton's boardroom suits.

Michelle is not dressing to show that she's as tough as a man, and I think it flatters her far more than the usual female "power" wardrobe.
