As to Billy Mays, I think I'm having the same reaction I had when Steve Irwin died: "He was so very young, so very loud and so very ON TV. How could this sloppy, real life thing happen?"

Here is a very long article by Ian Halperin of the London Daily Mail. I don't know this person or his credentials, but he sounds like he had a good connection to MJ and what he says is pretty damning.
