Summer of 2000, the four of us lived in a tiny garage on a big llama ranch in Wyoming. The garage had been made over into an apartment, complete with composting potty.

The composting potty was really not much different from a regular one. It was bolted to the floor, just like a regular one. Instead of flushing, you cranked the drum handle which rotated the contents into a composting bin under the floor (I think). The composted stuff was accessible from a trap door outside.
