and as far as the misspelled tattoo...thats precisely why, when I got the one I have in japanese, I checked what must have been 10 different sources as well as tracking down someone who could read japanese before giving the go ahead...not to mention having them make notes on my sample as to right side up and right vs left orientation.

Well, this just sucks. I just wrote a brilliant well thought-out response to the article pointing out the flaws in the numbers, but it all disappeared (my error).

Bottom line:
  • The reference to 475.2 million balls (216 per set x 2.2 million sets "in circulation") is pointless. However, he bases his comparisons on the 2.2 million sets, so I will overlook this.
  • The numbers do not take into account (for example) the number of dogs (78.2 million according to the Humane Society) as compared to the number of Buckyball sets.
  • The tennis comparison is completely incorrect because it is a well known fact that most people blame their masturbation injuries on tennis.
That being said, Buckyballgate is ridiculous - people need to take responsibility for their own stupidity and stop blaming others.
