I have a few board games. Monopoly, Sorry, Stratego and Life, I think. How come no one wants to play these anymore?

I think we should have a Swankster Monopoly Tournament!

Game night is a great idea. We have quite a few and don't play them as often as we used to.

But, this ain't gonna be our April swanking.

Those are great games to play. I wonder the same thing. Game nights used to be so much fun!

I think we have all these. Except maybe Stratego. But we do have Risk, Settlers of Catan, umptysquillion versions of Trivial Pursuit, and hordes of others. And card games! We had company over a few months ago for a rousing few rounds of Before I Kill You, Mr. Bond and a cool train board game called Ticket to Ride.

THANK GOD my Grandma saved all of my Mom & her Sisters' board games!!

Otherwise, I would have never been introduced to the childhood joy that was Mystery Date.

A boardgame dedicated to the wonders of dating! It's about fashion. It's about etiquette. It's about your big night. And, when you finally are able to open the little standing plastic door at the end to see who's pickin' you up for a swank night on the town? Sheer bliss. That is, unless, you get the "dud".

Being this game was circa 195?, the men were very much of their time. Young, chiseled, strapping pieces of "A" like the bowler in his shelaqued 'do & thick, black framed glasses with groovy bowling bag and matching shoes. Or, the Ken doll in the tuxedo waiting to whisk you off to prom. Nowadays? You might think the hotties kind of square (I still think they're cute!) But the "dud"? Yowza. He looked like a rumpled, sexy Calvin Klein model with work boots and bedhead.

I'd do the "dud" anyday.

But, I was just an innocent giggly kid & it wasn't Mystery Lay.
