But if he throws the immunity challange, it's quite possible Aras wins immunity. Then he can't possibly get rid of him. If he wins immunity, gives the idol to Danielle, they vote Aras and he's gone not matter what.

It's possible that even if Terry doesn't win immunity he and Danielle survive. If Aras and Cerie don't vote for Terry because of the idol, they vote for Danielle, and he gives it to Danielle after the vote is read, and they still get Aras or Cerie off.
