Although it may be the best for Lyra, I am sorry to hear of your loss. You did the right thing and gave her all the love a cat could ask for.

Thanks everyone - yesterday was one of those days you wish you could skip over. Waking Lisa at 7Am to tell her Lyra's gone missing and presumed dead was one phone call I wish I never had to make.

Aside from Lyra the included a phonecall to me on my way into work, that I was doing part of the 8:00 Am presentation (still being worked on till showtime) and would be doing the Q&A - "Here's Christian and his head on a silver platter, he's now responsible for all the problems we just told you about." I left for home as soon as I could and promptly rear-ended a woman on a freeway on-ramp.

At home Lyra was a mess, her moments of clarity only appeared when the front door was opened - she was clearly looking for an exit. Taking her to the vet was probably the most calm momment of the day. I never regret being with a pet in their final moments. With death, Lyra's body relaxed, her fur smooth and soft, finally released from her suffering.

I lost it afterwards whiule accomnpanying Lisa on her rounds walking the world largest dog, who took off after something more yappy behind an alley fence, dragging Lisa to the ground, leaving her with several bruises and rope burns.

Today, I'm hoping for something better. We have our house to put together, our boys to play with, and at least for me, no commitments till Monday

The good part is that, I tore apart each bed and now I've gone through the boxes and vaccuumed under the bed, washed the dust ruffles, the sheets, the blankets, everything. That's certainly something I don't do every week!
