I figure most Hollywood types are narcissistic anyway....I just try to avoid viewing stuff like that.

What bugs me is the news media hyping stuff that celebs do or say. To me it isn't news. An internet website....no big to me.

Not to be contrary about everything here, but I like the name Goop and would never have thought to associate it with male seminal fluid (which, in itself, would not be limited to prostitution and bagels). Indeed, I associate Goop with quality websites that give me helpful kitchen hints and recipes and such. I could be wrong, but I think its also describes an unsavory character, which was, perhaps, intended to be little ironic.

But that is just me and what the hell do I know?

I'm all in favor of a difference of opinion. I just think the site is inane. And to clarify: I do not associate "Goop" with male seminal fluid alone, rather it brings to mind the entire picture I painted earlier, beatings and all. Heh.

I do think Ms. Paltrow has something of value to share with the world, I just happen to think it involves her performances and not her personal lifestyle choices.

Then why not just have a blog? I'm not entirely sure why she would launch something until she actually had something to say. Every section says the same thing, with most if not all of the content repeated. I produce websites for a living, so I'm picky.

I love Neil Gaiman's website and journal. I love visiting James Gunn's MySpace page. I get the need for a personal website if you are an individual or company offering services, or an artist showcasing her work. If Paltrow's hippie Martha Stewarty "My Life as Art" site actually had content, I might feel differently. But it's a poorly planned teaser site. She could have said everything she needed to say in one paragraph as an introduction to a full website to come.

Instead, what you get is a site full of nothing substantial but stinks of"self-righteous-help" guide. Bah. It's funny.

Oddly enough I've never thought of THAT as "goop" -- a rousing "Oh yeah baby, goop on me!" or "let's goop together, mmhmm" would probably send me into hysterical laughter.

Then again, I keep reading this thread as "GOP: The most ridiculous celebrity vanity project ever", which is perhaps applicable to Palin but is otherwise confusing.

And Gwyneth still takes the prize for "Actress Who Most Closely Resembles a Wildebeest".
