I have to agree, I was pleased with the lack of fart jokes and would-be hip movie quotes. (The Tom Selleck thing was kind of curious, though. That'll date quick.)

On the other hand, there were dick jokes in the trailer for the surfing penguin movie. ("Are you still polishing your trophy?" and a chicken who says "I can feel it in my nuggets." Yeesh.) I'm not a prude, but hearing a theater full of kids laugh at those quips was a little depressing. Guess I'm turning into a cranky old guy. But how low is the bar going to go? Should we just thread up Fritz the Cat for these kids and call it a day? Oh, and somebody 86 the penguin movies already! *sigh* end of pathetic rant

Just out of curiosity, since Lani missed it until I noticed it and whispered to her.

Spoiler:
You did notice that Tom Selleck provided the voice of adult Lewis ("what's your dad look like? Um....Tom Selleck")? So it was a bit more than just a random reference.

To the extent it will date, I have to assume it is already there. Selleck isn't exactly an icon among our younger generations. The Frank Sinatra and the mob jokes are also pre-aged.

I skipped the credits, so, nope, I didn't know that. That makes a lot more sense. Wow, that's two strikes on me not paying enough attention to this movie. In truth, I was fighting a nap urge by the second half of this matinee showing.

I went to see the friday-night midnight showing with a lot of cowworkers and liked the movie a lot considering that sort of thing is not my bag baby.

The 3D was not your run o the mill red/green glasses. A polerizeing effect similiar to what you find in the theamparks in the way of 3D is used so they need to have a special 3D screen settup. It wont be released in 3D everywhwere I suggest you see it somewhere that it is shown in 3D I can see how it would make a big difference in perception of this movie. (Then again I went in with 0 expectations)

Oh and I know about 20 people with screen credits not working for the mouse...

The DJ team from whateverthefvck radio station that hosted the pre-event blew so bad that perhaps the movie got a bump from not being them though.
