But this goes back to the UK in '06 (Know Your Meme: The Lying Down Game) and may or may not be related to the similar and even earlier trend in Japan, Playing Dead

(incidentally, Know Your Meme is one of my favorite things on the internet)

I do planks most mornings, but now I can't do 'em without laughing. (Yeah, planking is slightly different - in that it won't so squat for your torso. Idiots.)

(And those planks BTD linked to are not planks as I know 'em. Those seem to be for arms, the ones I do are different and are for abs.)

Ya, they aren't but I was posting while working and I think most know what core planks are.
