Tankless Water heaters

Anyone have any experience with tankless water heaters? Good? Bad? If you have one, would you do it again?

Thanks

I have never been thanked by my water heater. It's too bad, really, because backwashing the hard water build up to keep it running effectively is a pain in the butt. I had to change the thermometer when it went bad and....

Oh. Tankless. Never mind. No experience with those.

If I understand correctly: Hard water builds up mineral deposits in your water heater. Meaning, rocks. The rocks can break off inside and bang around when the water pours in. Ours was doing just that recently but the apt. guys replaced the heater for us. Too bad they're too cheap to get us a cool (hot?) tankless one.

Apartment repair guy is a tankless job.

Anyway, I'm not sure how much the build-up can affect the efficiency of the heater.

It can make a difference, the build-up is essentially an insulator between the heating element (gas or electric) and the water. The more build-up, the more energy it will take to heat the water, that extra energy is wasted.

No experience, but planning on buying one in the near future.

Are you considering gas or electric?

Got one about 4 months ago and I LOVE it for 2 reasons:

a) we never run out of hot water and
b) we have soooo much more room in our laundry room now.

love it love it love it.
