They've had "Dive In" movies at Raging Waters for years- It's especially fun to watch "Jaws" while sitting in an innertube.

This article from Time Magazine in 1989 not only mentions the Dive In movies, but a new attraction at Disneyland called Splash Mountain

Classic Drive-in that was expanded to 4 screens,
Wow! That's the drive-in my family use to go to when I was a kid!! I didn't know it was still operating!

The last time I went to the drive-in was horrible! It was at Highway 39 before it closed (and the built a Walmart- just like in the country song!) People coming and going, using their headlights, putting their foot on the brake it the spot in front of us and leaving it for long periods, and I missed the comfortable stadium seating and suround sound. I'm too spoiled to go back to drive-ins!

We also have "dive In" movies at the local recreation center. I havent seen this years schedule, but they announce them, you take your kids, your floaties....
and everyone hangs out in the pool.
The snack bar is open, and they are typically family style movies.... it can get quite cozy.

From an old press release.
"The aquatic center will show two more family-friendly flicks this season, including Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" tonight. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. to give kids and their families a chance to settle in and splash around in the pool before the movie begins at sunset.
The La Mesa dive-in, which began with a big-screen television and about 40 guests, has now graduated to a projector screen and audiences that have topped more than 200. Previous films, such as "Harry Potter" and the "Lion King," drew major crowds, Jackman said.
....
The lifeguard staff increases to seven members during dive-in nights."

Lani and I only go to the drive-in and see movies we wouldn't otherwise see.

The Fast and Furious for example. Also, it needs to be something relatively well lit since there is a lot of light competition. We saw something (I forget what) that was so dark it was like watching the movie with our eyes closed.
