That's okay, JWBear. I too have tasted the wonder that is honey walnut shrimp, and understand why you might equate it with bacon.

But serving it WITH bacon.... now that has some serious potential! Meat candy + Sea candy = I don't know what it equals, but it'd be awesome.

I am in food heaven, and think I have found my new favorite food -

Grilled bacon-wrapped jalapenos.

Just washed the whole fresh jalapenos (didn't remove the seeds or anything), and then wrapped them up in a strip of bacon (spiraled around to cover the whole pepper), put them on the George Foreman grill..... and a few minutes later, I had a religious experience. It's a brilliant concoction of flavor and heat.... just perfect.

I want more. I could seriously eat these things constantly.

And, sadly, I only made two of 'em, and the rest of the bacon was already cooked. :(

But, OMG.... for those of you who love bacon and spicy.... ya gotta try this!

Some turkey bacon sucks some is delish. It's better if it's a bit fatty so it crisps up nicely. (I use Applegate (or is it Applewood?) Farms)

The carbonara recipe in the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook is pretty decent. They have you add the egg up front, which isn't technically proper, but works well enough. The trick is to keep the heat down so you don't "break" the egg.

Iffen you don't break the egg, how do you get it out of the shell? :p

And I have a problem with tossing the pasta with a raw egg. Is that totally necessary?
The idea is you need the pasta hot enough to cook the egg when tossing. If you prefer, blend the egg with the cream, add it to the pasta and toss over a low heat for a minute or two until cooked. Not quite the same, but yummy nevertheless.

Oh and do you use smoked bacon or pancetta?
Just regular Canadian Aussie Bacon.

Somewhere back in this thread, we discussed how LoT was mentioned on a board devoted to bacon. Both BlueErica and I received this email on Friday:

My book, Bacon: A Love Story, comes out in less than 11 weeks. I'm pretty
excited! The content you both gave me is featured in a couple places in the
book, and I'm glad you're a part of it.

To begin the countdown to the book launch, I'm launching a new social
network where members from all corners of the Bacon Nation can come
together.

http://baconnation.ning.com

You can read more about my vision for the community in the blog entry
currently on my homepage:

http://www.baconunwrapped.com

I hope you'll consider participating in the Bacon Nation in addition to your
own fabulous community. I'm anticipating a high level of attention for my
book based on the feedback I've received so far, and I want to make this as
an opportunity and adventure for all of us whose lives revolve around bacon.
It would be fun to have you involved!

Deep Fried Bacon Cheese and Beer Dog (http://www.beerfordinner.com/2007/04/deep-fried-bacon-cheese-and-beer-dog.php)"First take the center out of the hot dog with an apple corer" Say WHAT? How the hell are you supposed to hollow out a hot dog with an apple corer? I could maybe see coring a thick sausage, but a decidedly non-girthy hot dog? I don't think so...

Most of my links always come from Digg. They've just changed their software so the link takes you to a digg-url with a tool bar and the target page shown underneath. It's just easier to copy the digg link than to click through to the url. And considering how much I use Digg, I'm happy to oblige their efforts to drive more traffic.

Back off the pork and let's talk bacon.

Now, we all know the bacon watch, a.k.a. "Time for Bacon". A very affordable novelty item that. But, I swear that woman who writes the "On and Off the Avenue" shopping column for The New Yorker mentioned a very upscale Swiss version. It's not on the market yet (or ever?) but would be thousands of dollars, if not tens of thousands. Like Time for Bacon, the hands are bacon strips - jeweled or gold, in this case.

The article is in this week's issue. I'm looking at the article right now and I can't find the bacon watch part. It's driving me crazy, damn it.

Yesterday, it was time to pick the team name for the kids' soccer team I coach. One of the boys suggested "bacon."

We will be the Firesharks, but it was funny.

The Long Beach store won't be open until October, but I have officially stopped the majority of my pet sitting and am training part time in the Downtown LA store for 2 weeks. THEN, it looks like I will be working full time there while hiring 2 assistant managers, training them, training myself, getting product ordered, received and stocked and generally blowing all of the circuits in my brain.

I'll have to try that when we bbq again. Especially since corn is fresh and cheap right now.

Gary was sweet and brought me home a Voodoo maple bar with bacon, it was delish!

This (http://thechive.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/bacon-cheese-stuffed-pizza-burger.jpg) looks truly foul, however I do appreciate the term "bacon dreamcatcher".
