Agreed! Buy a bag of shelf-stable creamer tubs and keep it at your desk. That powder stuff is only good for flaming dragon breath.

Prior to opening it, give the "creamer" container a good shake, and maybe tap the side of it against the side of the counter/table. That'll help separate the grains. Also, when you pour it out, don't tip it upside down, as that forces all the contents down against the lid, compressing it back into a near-solid block. Instead, tip it sideways and give it a gentle sideways shake like you would a glass ketchup bottle.

So the next two fun things are being held on nights that I have to work. Normally I don't mind work but right now it's getting in the way of having fun. And the one show I'd like to work I can't because I have a conference to attend during day I of the performances. Pout.

Maybe that should go in the vent thread. Or not.

Soooo....I was reading the local news, and they had a series of photos from a movie that is being filmed here. They had to close a good part of downtown for some stunt scenes, which no doubt pissed a lot of people off, but what I found amusing was all the pictures of cast and crew in Nanuck gear. I shyt thee not- just about every person was wearing heavy duty coats and such. I think our low was about 40 last night, but today it was about 55 or better. What a bunch of pansies.:D

You may not remember the traffic snarling street marches over AB101 (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,974022,00.html) several years ago. If Prop. 8 passes, I'm guessing the peaceful street marches of then will be a fond memory of the past. If 8 passes, you might want to avoid "protester's corner, " it will probably be like trying to drive through New Orleans Square during Fantasmic.

Then again, my hope would be that you'd get out of your car and join the protest. This is a truly fvcked up bit of hatery.

BTW, let me point out, the yes on 8 ads have exposed more children to the concept of gay marriage than leaving us alone would ever have. Good jorb, ProtectMarriage.aholes.

Well, I'm wearing blue and my Obama 08 & No on 8 buttons. While it is not encouraged at work, several staffers have had things up at their desks (mine has only been a print of the NYTIMES Bullwinkle Assasinated) my leanings have been obvious. All the sticker says is "I voted". I happen to know for a fact that she voted absentee in the most recent election held in her God forsaken homeland. If the staff at Starbucks choose to interperate the sticker as relating to one specific election, that's not my problem.

The world is a larger place that one might think. Even things in your own neighborhood are more distant than expected.

My new suede coat, while the height of business casual style, is not as warm as I thought.

Change is actually good for some things.

Having a driver take you to work is really quite relaxing.

Overall, taking the bus because of car troubles, not that bad.

The kids and parents both loved it, it was sold out all 3 nights. O and her friend loved Angel and really "got" all of it except for Angel's death. They didn't really get the symbolism and asked what happened to him (although they know what AIDS is they just didn't get that he had died). The school had rated it PG13 but really there was nothing in it that I would deem inappropriate for 3rd graders, unless you haven't (or don't want) to discuss issues like homosexuality, homelessness or AIDS with your kid yet (which is cool-- you teach your kid things when they are ready to learn it).

Again, proud of the kids, proud of the school, proud of the theater director and proud of the head of school. :snap:

We have friends that are a married couple and they went to separate bed(room)s and found that their sleeping improved dramatically.
On the other hand, I have trouble sleeping when Jen is not with me.

Or if the pillows are wrong, or if there aren't enough (or too many) blankets, or if the cat under the covers is too far over on my side, or if I saw a spider any time in the last three hours before going to bed. Hmm, I have issues.

They were shy about letting it be known because they thought it made them look loveless but when they said it a bunch of other friends replied that they'd done similar.

Plus the whole "sneaking in after midnight" thing would be kind of cool....

Well, to clarify, I don't sleep as well when Susan (my wife) is not in bed with me. I am not sure how well I would sleep with Jen in bed with me.

How does Greg feel about that?

I wouldn't say I have trouble sleeping. Other than an occasional single night where I just can't get to sleep I've proven I can sleep anywhere anywhen under pretty much any conditions. Back in college our room was the eternal party room because me and my roommate, if we got tired would just crawl under our desks and go to sleep.

But I much prefer Lani there than not.

But so do our friends, they much prefer the idea of it, but in reality they just have vastly different needs for good sleep (temperature, light, covers, etc.). I think it's good that they realized it.

And, apparently, there is plenty of sneaking over in the middle of the night. They just get to relive their youth. When it is over you kick him/her out.

I've had one night of decent sleep, preceded by a few of really terrible sleep. The kind of night that I'm awake in the middle of the night and it's too cold to go out and play on the computer. I get back to sleep just in time to wake up for the morning.

I know I've been an insomniac in the past but I thought it was well and truly kicked for a while. I used to use my time more productively. Now i just stare at the walls.

So... I filled out the thing requesting to apply for a spot with Obama's administration, and today they sent me a link to the application :)

Doesn't mean, much, but the idea of applying is cool, even if I don't get a job.

I have issues too. Everything has to be perfect. Even then, sleeping is an iffy proposition.

Sorry it came back. :(

I've been an insomniac my whole life. My parents say that even when I was little I had trouble sleeping.

YAY and congratulations! (both on the win and the interruption in the giant crap ;) )

I don't think separate quarters would help me much. When I'm not sleeping, there's really nothing in the environs that seems to be a factor, my brain just doesn't shut up. I just need to get up and occupy my brain for a while longer until it's satisfied and shuts down. Once I do that, I have no trouble sleeping with CP next to me.

...compliments of DVPA and AdobeAt first I read this as "compliments of DVDA and Adobe" and that would take on a whole new meaning!

I'm so friggin stoked right now. :DNot to rain on your parade, but don't forget that this "win" is taxable as income (based on the retail value of the item). Since it is over $600, they WILL be filing a 1099MISC with the IRS and you will have to report it as $1,699 (http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/production/) in income.

But, congratulations!

Heh. :)

I also just noticed that it's full moon tonight.

So, yeah... with that, I'm definitely lighting some candles on the altar, because there's apparently some damn good energy coming from this one. Anyone have a wish/miracle/prayer they'd like me to light for them too? :)
