He was probably killed by a local outdoor cat. We have all sorts of "wildlife" in our neighborhood.......opossums, racoon, skunks, and, apparently, coyote and roof rats, although we have never had a roof rat problem at our house.

We took Holly and Sweetness in on Friday. It was hard. Boy was bawling, which made me cry. Holly slept in my arms until I had to hand her off. Next time I am ready for more girls I will be calling the pet store to see if they have any Dumbo's ready to take home. Holly was my first experience with that breed, and hopefully she won't be my last.

In addition, I'm going to offer a same-sex celebration discount by offering $200 off of any of my packages booked from now through Labor Day. :D

No more talk of creepy crawlies. The toad saga of last year continues...
Now, instead of the tiny baby toads covering my yard, I have many larger toads in my yard.
I was talking to my mom when I got home tonight. I was coming back from one of Boy's late baseball games. I noticed that the "leaves" on the front yard were moving. I counted at least 5. As I walked to the front door I screeched and my mom started laughing. She asked if that made 6. grrrr... Toady is the largest and he hangs out on the bricks by the front door. There are at least 3 in the backyard.
The Boy has decided it is time to re-educate me on Home Toad Removal Procedures.

So, we're living in the French part of Switzerland where truly not a lot of English is spoken. There's a wonderful swimming pool complex that includes a restaurant. We wanted to go swimming the other day, so I called the number on the back of the brochure and asked, in my imperfectly accented French, if they provided towels (serviettes) or if we'd have to bring our own.
The man on the other end sounded astounded and a bit indignant.
"Serviettes? Serviettes?"
I repeated my question.
Fortunately, he figured out what had happened and told me that I had called the restaurant, not the pool.
The punchline is that "serviettes" also means "napkins." So for at least a few seconds, I was the idiot American who called the restaurant to ask if they provided napkins or if we'd have to bring our own.

Dear Snowflake,
I could be wrong, but many small dog breeds (like poodles, terriers and pugs) suffer from a hereditary condition that causes their little kneecaps to go AWOL. It's quite common, and breeders, try as they might, haven't knailed the kneecap knundrum.
But I'm sure Thurston will be OK, as he is more than well looked after.
Love and hugs,

Several months ago, I ordered the bridesmaid gown for my friend's wedding. All that was available from the requested company were somewhat form-fitting styles, and the bride had asked us to pick satin fabric. And the company had an upper limit of sizes, so I was stuck ordering the largest one though some of the measurements were too small. I was very concerned it wouldn't fit.
It arrived today. It fits. Well, actually, it doesn't quite fit - it's too big in the areas that would've fit before, just right in the areas that wouldn't have.

We sometimes have a hard time explaining to customers that we need the actual fonts that you used to create your document. You Times New Roman may not be the same as my Times New Roman.
Also, the following programs are not programs to be used for print production: Word, PowerPoint, Publisher (well, anything from Microsoft). Also, do not use Photoshop for anything to do with type. Yes, I know that you can place type in Photoshop, but it handles it as raster data: not vector. Unless you make your document with a resolution of about 5000 x 5000 (which will make your file HUGE), the type will not look right.
Sorry: been a PITA day :(

It seemed most of the playoff games were exciting as well. I really got into it after the Lakers played the Jazz. As for Kobe, there's no doubt he's an amazing athlete and genius with the ball. That said, I can't stand how self-absorbed he comes off as. I went to a playoff game here in SLC and while everyone else was saying hello, patting each other on the back, talking with their teammates and the other team, Kobe was in front of the camera, egging it on, as though to imply the entire thing was about him. As much as he seems to do the most work, it seemed he didn't really care about the team as much as he did himself, which may impact the situation over all.
I'm no basketball expert (barely even a fan), but I'm just guessing the above based on what I've seen of human nature.

I will have to post up some pictures for further back story - but during my trip to the opal mines this past weekend, there were a number of incidents where I was cited as being a big nerd. And well, I am, but I defended myself with the idea that certain things, such as Star Wars, are (pretty much) universally popular, and have an impact on our culture at large. More on Star Wars later...
So yeah, I'm defending my nerdiness and repeated circumstances point to my nerdy, magnetic north...
My response to a recent email from J? A continuation on the Zero Wing "All your base" bit. Entrapment, I say! You can't say "set you up the bomb" without "I get signal." You just can't.

It should be fine, from my dental field experience, but don't do it often (according to the aforementioned dental experience and real life experience). Four 200mg ibuprofen dissolves much more quickly than one 800mg pill and can give you an upset stomach. (What it can do over the long haul is another story, for another day) If it were me, I'd take two 200s, then two more a couple of hours later, but that's because I have 'stomach issues'.

Buy a USB card reader. They are fairly inexpensive (I picked one up on eBay for $5 a few years ago). Then you can access the disk like an external drive and move your photos over like you would move any other document.

last time he maxed me out and when he started he realized it wasn't enough and quickly gave me another.
I don't know how I got home that day....really, can't remember if I drove or what.
For me, all the pain was before the root canal. After an abscessed tooth, the root canal itself doesn't seem so bad.
This is most certainly true. When you're actually happy to see the endodontist, you know that tooth hurts like h-e-double toothpicks.
I know that Susan will from time-to-time take the maximum dosage of Advil (ibuprofin) and then two hours later take the maximum dosage of Tylenol (acetaminophen), then alternating this pattern until things subside. This was recommended by a doctor.
This is exactly what I've been doing. The Advil/Motrin/Aleve is for the swelling and the Tylenol is to take the edge off the pain. Or something close to that.

The guys chased off the kitties at work. The kitties had been behind/under some equipment in the back of our building. I just saw one of them going up inside the engine compartment of one of the shop trucks. I am so ticked off at the guys right now. They had no real reason for chasing off the kittens, other than they could. Now, as soon as one of them turns on the truck all of the kitties are in jeopardy. If I tell the guys they will do it on purpose. What a bunch of Asshats!!!

I'm glad there weren't any meetings today. I've been prone to snoozing ALL WEEK LONG, and it's actually not like me. I can usually at least feign interest.

OMG... Forbidden Broadway was SPOT ON in their imitation of Liza Minelli. I'd almost say they underplayed her. It's impossible to overplay Liza. Impossible, I say!
And when it's 10pm and still 90 degrees out, BB King is just the thing, especially when Della Reese introduces him. Duuuuude.

Dear Morrigoon,
So let me get this straight:
You are renting yourself out to 10 clients in a 909-model R.V., and have to be done in time for work.
What sort of quality time is that for the punters? I hope you're not expecting repeat business, 'cos with that turnaround, they won't even be able to utter the words "Hey cutie, how's about..."
I suggest you invest in an inflatable love-doll, as she could service the dumber ones and halve your work effort by 50%.
Love and hugs,

Oh, my. In The Heights (www.intheheightsthemusical.com/) is exactly what I've been waiting for in this ten-year glut of musicals only adapted from films or existing music. It's beautiful! It won the Tony last Sunday.
Also it's created by another member of the Wesleyan Mafia (which also includes the creators of How I Met Your Mother, our very own Significant Chicken Productions and regrettably Michael Bay.)

Heh yesterday I was outside for a graduation at Pepperdine (90+ degrees at the beach, no air, yay!) and then went to a wedding at Disneyland -- the reception was inside so that was nice but the wedding, while totally gorgeous (never saw the horse-drawn carriage before, soooo f'n cool) was in no shade in the heat. Yeah, unless you are in a second-story apartment with vaulted ceilings. Then those wonderful ocean breezes are few and far between on a day like this.
