Thank god... the radio is FINALL playing a non-Christmas song.

Don't get me wrong, you all know I'm one of the first people ready for the holidays when they come, but it's still NOVEMBER. One or two Christmas songs peppered into the usual soft-rock mix would have been okay, but it's been a steady stream of Xmas interrupted only occasionally by a regular song. I may retreat to streaming radio soon. At least until I'm feeling less grinchy.

I am supposed to get my birthday off. I was in a 8:30 ish this morning as usual. I get to leave "early" today - 5:00 ish.

When I leave after 7:00, it takes a half hour tops to drive home (Costa Mesa to Brea). When I leave in a couple of minutes, it will take a minimum of an hour, probably closer to 1-1/2 hours.

Happy Birthday to me

It only took an hour to get home including a stop at UPS.

Might have been even quicker had it not been for the looky-loo traffic because of the end of the high-speed chase on the SOUTHbound 57 at Imperial.

Now I await my annual Welsh Rarebit. I always appreciate that Susan makes it for me even though she can't stand the smell of it (much less eat it!).

How do you spell relief? P-A-P-E-R.

Apparently, because she gave us a paper to write, our health law prof no longer has to follow our incredibly super strict school curve. I was so worried - our grades are primarily based on quizzes for that class. Easy quizzes. Where you might miss 1 or 2 of 75 points because she worded the question in a way that made no sense to you. And it's like that for every quiz. So, you could miss 1 point in every 75-point quiz and still find yourself with a C for the class.

You know me. Therefore you know my increasing panic every time I saw a "-1" on a returned quiz. I once got "-2" and nearly passed out. Here I am, right on the bubble between summa and magna, and I could miss out on summa merely because of some stupid point on some stupid health law quiz and dear God why did I sign up for this class?

But no! Because there was a paper, no curve! So we can all get As if the prof feels like it! And if we act as a discussion leader Thursday we can gain back up to 5 lost quiz points. (and the good way - if we only lost 3 points total we'd only get back 3 points - not increase our total to 102 of 100. I hate profs that do not get the point and issue extra credit assignments that just increase the total point value, so even someone that already had 100 has to do the EC to stay competitive.)

I take back the bad things I thought about that prof. Well, I take back half the bad things I thought about her.

We just had a meeting with our new "organizational consultant". And by "we" I mean "the very few pre-existing central staff that the head honcho didn't hire over from her prior gig, plus me". We got to the "feedback on our new leaders" portion and she thought we might not want to say anything right then. She got about 5 of those post-it easel pages of feedback that was definitely not what she had been prepared for.

The downside is that with so few of us in the central office, there's not much mystery about who said what.

Could be a bumpy ride....As much as my management over the last year or so have proven themselves to be complete dunderheads, I will say this...after I laid out exactly what I thought they were doing wrong in the "feedback" section of my yearly review, they treated me with quite a bit more respect. Not to say they particularly took any of my suggestions (I failed to cure them of their dunderheadedness), but MOST people will respect someone who is being honest about how they feel, as long as you're doing so in a respectful way and still performing your job responsibilities, no matter how misguided you might think said responsibilities are.

No, not really, it means that I'm equally anti-social!! Summer of 2006 I went to meet up with Blacky and other folks at the Seattle Center, and we totally didn't recognize each other and didn't end up meeting up because of that! And this is my fault totally because you know how sociable he is!

Great...somthing to look forward to!They should be fine by the time you come over to watch them next week. This has never happened before, so I'm sure it's a one-time thing. :)

And, even though I can't prove it, I blame Emmy, because she's pure evil, and she came from your house. ;)

If I remember correctly...you visited almost daily for the evil little angel?!Every other day, and only for an hour or two. So, she was with you 99% of the time. :p I think you trained her to be evil.

Bellaayy full of nooooooodles. It's making sounds.

I'm going to take this time to thank € for helping me with a huge project and thank NA for putting up with it all. And I thank the noodles for this stomach symphony. I'm glad I didn't have ice cream to top it all off - my stomach has a rough enough time with non-dairy stuff... ;)

Is it wrong that I'm drooling over a litterbox?

Either Alton Brown's a genius, or we're both going to die of salmonella in a few hours.

But regardless, I just had the equivalent of a Thanksgiving Dinner.

How can there be 1043 new posts since the day before yesterday? That's nuts!

BTW, I worked a farmer's market in the pouring pouring rain today, and still sold 50 units! People were so grateful for the few of us who actually braved the weather. And I had a customer from that market call me and order 85 units to give as Christmas gifts! He gets a discount.

And just to catch up on a week's worth of not posting:

Atlanta was gorgeous. I've never seen so many trees.

I'm trying to get Sprint to replace my phone that goes dead after a 12 minute phone call.

I hate US Bank as well.

I went on a date tonight that turned out not to be a date. Although I did help him hook up his surround system

So, what's going on with you?

Is this a typical male reaction? I had never heard of this till a year or two ago.

I just woke up. I got almost 12 hours of sleep. This getting up at 5 every morning seems to catch up to me around Thursday.

I did get an amusing call from work last night. After 2 weeks I was able to talk someone through finding an order and checking to see if it had an appointment scheduled. I was very pleased with myself. I even told him I could come back in or come in today if he needed me to. Luckily we were able to resolve it over the phone.

I am still loving my job. I have had a few hair pulling moments, but over all nothing I wasn't able to take care of.

Hmmm, though sometimes concealed by long hair, I'm pretty sure women have the same reaction. Lisa confirmed a buzzing, but I didn't stop to check pigmentation.

I'm just trying to figure out why there's a Bon Voyage party when it should be more like you guys packing up for Utah where you will buy up a ski resort so it can be a snowy kind of LoT commune.

Yeah.

We had snow overnight. There was maybe an inch on the ground this morning for our run. It was cold and I was tired and my knee kind of hurt. When I finished, I said, "That sucked."

So I was able to get my orientation for tomorrow - which means (yay!) I can get tix for the holiday party Monday or Tuesday, and also the 40% off discount thing starts Monday woohoooooo! (Now if only I had the money to pick up a few miniatures...)

That's the good news. The bad news is, a friend of mine, who hired into the same area I did, got the one assignment she didn't want, which is also the one I didn't want, and she was told that's all they're hiring into now. So I'm probably going back to the same place I worked before, bleh. But at least I'll have a buddy there! Anyway, I don't know that for sure yet, because I don't get my own assignment for training till tomorrow. And they had better respect the day I said I couldn't work (you know, next Saturday, lol), which is when she's being trained, so maybe I'll get lucky and still get the assignment I want - keep your fingers crossed!

But still, overall I call this a good day :)

That you keep on is terrific. You are my inspiration, Steph.

It's snowing here today. We're expecting an accumulation of 6" with a top coat of freezing rain.

It's even snowing here at the moment. My study buddy's supposed to come up here to go over this upcoming week's UCC assignments, but if it keeps up I don't know if she'll make it, since she's a socal girl...
