OUCH!! Nickolas and I were playing the game where you rest your hands on top of the other person's hands and they try to smack yours. He got me so good that it ripped off my nail from my pinky finger. I did the owy dance, but a couple "bad words" still slipped out.
My dad is pouting now. Nick and I are going over to visit them tomorrow. I had promised Nick a trip to Dewars and they live near it. He is upset that I won't bring him a banana split. With all of the meds he is on and with the heart issues on top of diabetes his blood sugar is 230 (it should be under 120).
At the same time I was telling him no mom put in an order for a sunday. Tomorrow could be very entertaining.

Sooooo,
Here's an indication of how my day went. One of the highlights was getting stuck in an elevator filled with smelly garbage (corporate gig). I could give more details as to how this occurred but that's not really the point. The point is, it was just one of many sucky moments today. I'm ready to go to bed, but instead, I'm going to go play golf on the PS2 with Matthew and see how well I can hook a ball into the lake.

At least 25% of our company of 40 people have just got over, are fighting, or just starting to get this cold. Two people in my family just got over it as I got it last weekend. Nothing too exciting. A friend from high school, well actually we started school in pre-school. Anyway he's an Entomologist and has been going there for a few years doing some sort of research.
He said it’s -25 there. And I was impressed that it’s postmarked January 27th and I got it yesterday. Not bad.
I just thought it was cool to get a postcard from Antarctica. The kid was completely un-impressed

As long as it isn't a freakin bill. Anything but a bill makes me happy.
But, what is really cool is that I have a pal in Finland and Austrailia {no, not you LashBear, you haven't been sending me mail in your sleep...:p }. I love it. What is ironic, we also discuss the weather. The Finnish chickie is saying their winter hasn't been one so far.

Every time we get 2 bloody copies of Family Fun magazine in the mail, I get mad. I don't WANT to know how to make my laundry room more "kid friendly". I want to know more about Disney.
I thought I was the only one being harrassed by Family Fun. Make it stop!

My roommate came home, held up a copy of Family Fun magazine and said "I keep getting this, I have no idea what it is or why I get it..." I said "It's the new Disney magazine" He said "I wish it had more Disney in it! I miss the old magazine".

I was very mad about Family Fun back when we first rec'd it and tracked down a phone number (no small feat in itself) to cancel the thing.
Me: I don't want to receive this magazine anymore.
Lady: It's free.
Me: I don't want it. I don't want to kill more trees. I don't have kids. I didn't ask for this. Not every Disneyland Annual Passholder has kids. I throw them away immediately. I don't want it.
Lady: But it's free.
The best I could get from her was "I'll try to get you removed but this is a special promotion and it's free yadda yadda..." We continue to receive both copies.
Perhaps it's time to try again and really pull out the pissed off APer attitude. :D

This morning at work there was a meeting scheduled first thing which is not how I like to start my day. The meeting was me, my supervisor, and manager meeting with the VP of the business unit we do accounting work for. My supervisor and I were all prepped for a confrontation over financial reports, they always blame our numbers if they don't meet their forecasts.
When we got there the room was full of about 50 people and we quickly realized it was not the meeting we expected. Turns out our manager was in on the whole scheme to surprise us with STAR awards. These are company awards given for stellar (what else) achievement. The business unit wanted to recognize and thank us for all the work we do for them. That was very nice because it isn't often that anyone says thank you for what you do, it's usually only what you don't do that gets noticed.

My 9th-grade daughter has Baby Think It Over for the weekend. It's a robotic baby that you have to take care of like a real baby. It's required for a required course. The idea is that if kids know how much work a baby is, they won't make a baby.
Let me tell you, this thing is waaay more trouble than a real baby, unless that real baby has the colic.
Tonight, I'm babysitting the cranky little robot for my daughter while she goes to the high school play.

One of our local BBQ places is setting up a large tent in the middle of their parking lot tomorrow morning, setting up for a dinner/dance for Valentine's night. The place I work is providing the tent, chairs, tables and dance floor. Have I mentioned it is a large tent of their parking lot?
This is the same parking lot that I have to park in to pick up Nickolas from Tai-kwon-do every Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. This month has alreayd been bad because between his gym and the BBQ place is a H&R Block that has been majorly busy.
Am I evil that after today's HUGE cloud-busting downpour that same parking lot looked like a lake and I laughed out loud??

I rode the bus for the first time today to meet zapppop and go to DL. It was very, very interesting.

Am I a bad person to be glad that Karma is such a beautiful, sweet bitch?
A former friend was really catty to a few people about the fact that I had gained 10 pounds last year. I haven't seen her since that encounter (last July)...I just saw a picture of her from last weekend; she's easily put on 25-30 pounds.:D
It feels so good to be so bad!

For the longest time I thought the lyrics to "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" went:
"The girl with colitis goes by."
I didn't know that they were actually singing:
"The girl with kaleidescope eyes."
Ain't that funny?

For some reason, I have been involved in two (count 'em) conversations about mondegreens in the last few weeks.
I wonder if there are any popular Disney ones?

Related to Disney only during carols om Main Street, but every christmas, I used to think the lyrics went:
"I'm dreaming of a White Christmas,
With every Christmas Cart I Ride...."

Also, I'm currently being buried under snow. I came into the office today because there are meetings I might need to attend. I'm not looking forward to my drive home.

I've been bad. Very bad.
Seeing as it's VDay, knowing that I will not be receiving anything from David, I took care of myself. I bought a beautiful Strellman's Alexandrite ring. It is gorgeous. Depending on the light source, it changes from a pretty purple/pink to a greenish blue. I was very bad.
I just gave Nickolas his Vday present. I bought him a Lego Star Wars set. Seeing how he has torn through his other sets I bought one that will challenge him a bit. It is the Star Destroyer. 1366 pieces...even came with Darth Vader. His eyes just totally lit up. Gem of the morning, "Did you know Darth Vader has eyebrows?"

So, uh, before I flop back down in bed again--
I was in the ER all yesterday. After 12 hours of vomiting every twenty minutes (like clockwork), I was in a lot of pain and pretty dehydrated. So they fixed me up-- but not before blowing five veins trying to get the IV in, giving me medication that accidentally *made* me vomit that IV fluid back up, and then finding the right meds so as to allow me to choke down a bottle of barium sulfate. Turns out I have "abdominal pain of unknown origin." Probably flu. So if you saw me this weekend, you had better keep an eye on your digestive track-- and do NOT take Immodium, it might make things all the worse if you get worse.
I'm rambling, but I'm still sick so you'll have to forgive me.

So, one of the high muckety-mucks on this floor has decided to start bringing her dog to work. Her large dog. Never mind that the rest of us can't bring in pets. Never mind that this floor is overflow space shared by several units, so it's not just her own underlings that are subjected to this dog. Never mind that this is a public building, so bringing the non-service animal inside every day and giving us all doggy show and tell every afternoon is a violation of the state administrative code (and distracting, but apparently that's not a concern here). No, she's near the top of the food chain, and the one person who was above her and used to object moved on, so now she gets to bring fido in. Because it's just soooooo important that Ms. Assistant Vice President for Regional Affairs get that quality of life boost from having her pooch present at all times, even if no one else can.

Only on Veteran's Day, when it was really offensive.
I remember my tenth grade English teacher turning beet red when a cheerleader in our class, commenting on his Valentine's pin, said "Mr. Law, I see you have a heart on today."

Sooo...
Each day I wait (not so) patiently for my new laptop to arrive. HD compatable, 2 gigs of RAM, 160 gig hard drive, 256MB video card, 7 hour battery. What's amazing is that before I ordered it, the days were just flying by. Now, they seem to have slowed to a crawl. And the worst part...I probably still have another week of this, although they say it may be sooner.
This will replace the current laptop, which is very old school (96MB of RAM, for example). I frequently get smirks when I use it in public and one day a group of kids walked by and one said "man, that is really old". Little bastards.
So, needless to say, I'm pretty excited. :)
