I need a 2nd TIVO. I can't fast forward commercials on my regular TV.Can you expand your current TiVo? hacking a larger hard drive isn't that difficult. Here is just one of a gazillion how-to sites on the web. I am assuming you are on a standard Series 2 - I don't recall you getting an HD TiVo.
I can't find my PANTS!!!It wasn't me - I swear (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/showthread.php?t=5739)!
Because I like to contribute anecdotal evidence that will be interpreted as part of a pattern rather than simple coincidence:
This morning, driving to work, I was rear-ended by a pick-up truck three cars behind me.
Both me and my car are fine (there's a small scratch on my bumper but I couldn't say with 100% certainty it is new). However, the two cars between us (and the women in them) were more beat up.

I'm sure I could but I don't have the time right now. I also don't want to risk breaking it, I have a full lifetime subscription. I intend on using it until it dies.
My system is set up that I can watch one thing through the TV while recording something else via TiVO. I just can't rewind what I watch through the TV (and I know I can watch one recorded show while recording another - but this doesn't help when I have 2 shows on at the same time).

I'm typing this post on my very first laptop. I have never before owned a wireless network device, but now, I can take you all wherever I go.
I bought a "netbook," an absurdly cute little mini-laptop, the Acer Aspire One. (It was also dirt cheap - 325 bucks at Amazon.) It's surprisingly easy to type on, given the size. Also, it has an international keyboard, so the € symbol is right there on the 5 key. This model runs on Linux, so I remain Windows-free. Whee! I just had to share.
Yup, Ya gotta love the new Netbooks. I picked up one for Moonie Junior. It easily runs everything he needs for school but is terrible for World Of Warcraft and it's ilk. Priceless.

Congrats on the laptop. I never knew what i was missing til i got my first one a year and a half ago. :) And it came in handy when i had to go to Bon Jovi and able to upload all my photos and videos off the memory card in my camera freeing up the space available without the laptop i don't know what i would have done lol...

That, and we have a few shows we need to pull off of it.

BTW: The bear in this pic Bottom Right looks "anatomically correct" - Did you manage to make Gingerbread Balls, too? :D
Old Fashioned Gingerbread Cookies
Oven: 350°
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp ground ginger
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground cloves
¼ tsp salt
½ cup white sugar
½ cup shortening
1 egg
1 cup molasses
1 tsp baking soda
1½ tsp warm water
In large bowl, cream shortening, sugar, egg and warmed molasses. Dissolve baking soda in warm water and add to egg mixture. Beat until smooth. Mix in flour, spices and salt until well blended. Cover and chill for 24 hours.
Grease cookie sheets (or use parchment). Roll out dough to a thickness of ¼ inch on a floured surface. Cut out gingerbread men bears using cookie cutters and place on cookie sheets.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from baking sheet to cool.
NOTE: These will be soft and cake like, not hard and crunchy like most modern gingerbread.

I'm still on a high from last nights David Byrne concert. While the Greek was a clusterfu<k, Byrne was wonderful. He did the songs on Byrne/Eno (and Burning Down the House) which included songs from Talking Heads and My Life in the Bush of Ghosts as well as more recent work. While there were not surprised in the band (no Eno, no Adrien Bellew etc) the group was amazing. He also had 3 dancers as part of the performance adding wonderful visuals to the performance.
However, I would still offer up my first child to see the Talking Heads "Remain In Light" tour again. I doubt anything could ever surpass that experience - but this was a good contender.

No, it's exactly why the sad square was made. Squaresville, man, squaresville.
Things evolve. Your sad little square has grown into an occasionally happy piece of cheese. Even still, though, I agree that it should never be happy, this is be square cheese screams "American cheese" and I can't imagine how something so disgustingly inedible as American cheese can ever be happy.
Good to know the history though. Now every time I see it I won't see it as someone saying they're unhappy but rather as saying that they are uncool and therefore unhappy. I'm sure this will give an interesting subtext to many posts.

Because if you put a round happy cheese on a cheese toastie and toast it, the cheese runs onto the griller tray, or if it is smaller, then the corners of your bread remain un-cheesed, all of which makes your cheese sad, not happy.
...I think we should ask Jim.

For the 2nd week in a row the company I temped for a couple of weeks ago called and requested me again. Please keep your fingers crossed that this turns into a permanent job for me. It is the ideal place for me. I have my own office, no one watches over my shoulder, i am left totallt alone. Working independantly is something I thrive on. All I do is sit at a computer and input bills into the Chevron system. I love it. I sit there with my little cd player and can totally zone out, forgetting about all of the crap going on in my life.
On a side note, the appraiser comes Friday morning. The last house that sold around here went for $125k. At this rate, He may end up owing ME money!!!

There's even an award ceremony where I'll be recognized. It will be attended by the District big wigs, our principal and some of the teachers from our school (as well as from other district schools). Our principal told me that some of the teachers got together and wrote letters of recommendation and after a staff vote they nominated me.

So after a frustrating day at work (well, just the last part of the day), I'm walking the dogs on my block when I run into my neighbor Sean. I think I've been avoiding talking to him since 8/27, because I was frustrated that he hadn't rescued the escaped pet bunny that was living in his backyard. On that day, I posted that I saw a coyote on our block - I was pretty sure that little Carrot had become a meal. Well, Sean sees me hustling the dogs past his house and stops me to tell me... he rescued the bunny! Carrot has been living in his house for over a month. Sean had also seen the coyote and made a concerted effort to capture the rabbit. I'm chagrined that I jumped to a conclusion about my (cool) neighbor. I'm delighted that little Carrot has found a happy home.

(For those who've missed it - it's giant mutant rabbits on the rampage - but the special effects consist of actual adorable nose-twitching bunnies scampering in slow motion across miniature sets. Apparently unintentional hilarity ensues.)

Speaking of bunnies, the relationship between Munchkin and Lito continues to evolve. Munchkin has actually started tolerating some grooming from Lito, but only if one of us is petting her at the same time. If we leave them alone, Munchkin will ignore Lito for a bit, but Lito pretty much follows her around looking for attention, so eventually Munchkin chases her away.

Oh wait - I take that back. I made some hideous project out of my hand... probably an ashtray. lol.

Of course, if we're doing ceramics, I want to learn how to blow glass, so we'll need a glass furnace too!
Damn straight we will! And also a shop for fusing stained glass.

Hope it gets better. :)
As an aside, when I read your screen name, I see "alphabetsoupgirl". :D
Thanks, hon! Today was indeed better. Had a beer on-campus with a friend, and talked with the other gays on campus at the "Come Out Speak Out" thing tonight. Surprising number of us on campus. Very cool.
I don't mind alphabetsoup! :)
I suddenly feel like doing ceramics. Doesn't that sound like fun?
Got a kiln?
Nope.
I do! Come up and we'll play with mud!
ABG has a really nice kiln and an entire pottery shed. :)
Her and her hubby once taught me how to throw. I ended up making a really neat LOTR-inspired bowl. I was quite proud of it, until she told me that it cracked during it's short-lived stint in the initial drying locker. :(
Sorry yours cracked, hon. Come up and we'll try it again! Most beginning projects don't survive very well. At least yours looked pretty good- you ought to see the disasters I created!
I need to go throw again one of these days. We even have a couple of glazes that we mixed up. Good ones that don't run.
And also a shop for fusing stained glass.
OOohhh!!! Stained glass!
Halloween candy, I buyz some.

The worst migraine befriended my head today.
I'm feeling a little better but the aftermath is never fun.
But I also can't sleep anymore or I'll be awake all weekend.
Ugh.
Like I asked our mousepod earlier this morning, anyone want to switch heads with me?

Even thousands of miles away even I have my little slice of Disneyland to tide me over for next September's Swanky Shenanigans. I can always get my little fix down at the local Mexican place. CHURROS!!! :)
I have to make mine from scratch... :(

I have a ceramic body sculputre thingie over my fireplace. I call it the "butt mold".
FYI - plaster of perris heats as it sets. If you have a couple hundred pounds of it on your naked backside, it burns. And since said mold was left at San Jose State Art department goodnees only knows where else my ass is.

LB, I could smack you for that! Eeeeeeeew!!! *wince*
I just finished my Halloween baking. I started at 2pm, and popped the last tray in about 30 minutes ago.
This was followed by nearly 4 hours of making the dough last night.
I don't even want to eat 'em, because I'm so sick of looking at and smelling them.
And, my honey decided to be funny by asking me to make pancakes tomorrow morning.
He's still trying to remove the rolling pin from his backside. ;)
Lashbear, if you ever want a second career, I suggest you open up a Naughty Bakery.
I happen to be baking this morning but it's only New York crumbcake. It was the power of suggestion. If you've watched the video in the Because We Need A Laugh - Part Deux thread (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/showthread.php?p=245615#post245615), you understand. To my everlasting shame, the dog decorations, I already have.
I'm going low-fat with this crumbcake, meaning I halved the topping and substituted apple sauce for the fat in the cake.
I have plans for the crumbcake that do not involve any of it making its way into my mouth. The neighbors across the street both have cancer. Another neighbor broke her leg.
Listen, I'm a great-aunt. I bake for my neighbors and I knit stuff for babies.

My two-month old computer has developed a problem with the "network interface card". All I know is that I no can no longer connect through DSL. I'm on dialup until I can ship the computer to fricken Texas for two - three weeks to get it fixed on warrantee!
I may be able to use my old Gateway while it's gone. We'll see...

Every now and then I try to make pizza at home, from scratch. I picture myself actually tossing and whirling the dough around just like the guys on TV, and every time, I end up with something just shy of epic fail. Today was no exception. Anyway, it was slightly edible, but I didn't finish it, and the portion that is wrapped in foil in the fridge is probably doomed to neglect. (The veggie-heavy toppings were pretty good, but the crust was bleagh.)
I would so watch a "lashes in the kitchen" show!

We think we've located and bagged all the household ingestibles. Hope so. We have to be out at 8am.
We tossed a LOT of stuff from the pantry. It was good. (tossing, not the food)
Doggies are not going to be too happy when they realize they're spending the next few days at the vet. Someone's losing a tooth and someone else is losing their plumbing
Only thing I haven't done is actually pack for the next few days. I'll toss some stuff in a bag before bed and pray it's all I need, heheh.

Yup strong winds. They postponed our fumigation, say this wind'll blow the tenting down. My guess is it's way too dangerous for them to put men on a roof with large sails (tarps) in this weather. Just a guess.
Dogs had surgery scheduled though, so they went to the vet this morning as planned.

Blow, wind, blow! It's kind of exciting. Kind of a pain, though, so I'm glad they don't blow all the time. Watching coverage of the Marek fire in Lake View Terrace. I think we saw its beginnings yesterday driving to Castaic. Shawn and I were both awake at 3-something this morning, listening to the wind blow. He decided he wasn't biking today.
Today- homework, and drop Shawn's mtn bike at the shop for some repair work. His wheels are having some problems but it made it through 8 miles yesterday. :)

Snowed a lot yesterday, and I got some great pics. The quick change to cold and getting stuck in a bit of it has made me feel pretty sickly today. And... by Wednesday, we should be in the 70s.
WTF?

I have a love/hate relationship with the wind. I love that it will clear the air. I hate that it impedes my breathing and makes my head feel like it's going to implode. And I hate driving in it. I really only like the wind when it's a stormy wind and it's raining and I'm not at work for it.

WTF?I know what you mean, though not to those extremes. Sat the 4th it was rainy, then it was 95°F on wed., then 64°F on Friday. Then windy and dry today.
Blow, wind, blow! It's kind of exciting. Kind of a pain, though, so I'm glad they don't blow all the time. We get so little real "weather" here that it is exciting to have a slight "extreme" weather day. I perfer the rain to the wind however.
